Ive gone to the dark side....

Otter, please close my last thread I started.

Ok now that I got that out of the way, I am getting feeling back in my legs and am able to walk around like a normal person now rather than like a new-born giraffe. But they decided to deem my ralliart a complete loss. So I went out...and bought....a 2006 Golf GTI. And my God does that thing haul ***. Off the line, it EATS my RA. It has like 30 more options that my RA didnt, heated leather seats, traction control, 225/45R17 wheels/tires, small leather steering wheel, and a tiptronic automatic transmission. So it looks like im going to be moving away from the japanese world and onto german-made rides.
Since I no longer own a mitsu, I dont feel me being a mod would benefit you guys too much, but I would like the admins to hand the power over to "Myskewicz". Hes probably one of the smartest RA owners on these boards and feel he would benefit you guys the most.
I will be popping in and out of here every once in awhile to help noob's out, but for the most part will silently be modding out my GTI It was great wihle it lasted here on evom, now hopefully some GTI forums are out there that are worthwhile. Take care everybody!

ahh... although i respect your opinion and that the VW is much safer in crash testing...let me tell you this:

I just traded my VW for the 2006 ralliart. Now, my VW was 5 years old... (2000) and I had SOOOOO many problems with it. First of all, the power window pulley mechanism is made of crap plasitic and fell appart after 4 years...$500 for EACH window...next, the window is in a sensor that is so sensitive that after 3 years you will be struggling with the window for it to actually go all the way up...it just senses something and goes back down. Also, there was a short that blew the fuse that controls the windows every once in a while. The final crushing blow was that after only 5 years, the transmission blew a hole the size of a nickel and leaked fluid everyone and ruined the clutch.

Sorry to be a downer, but I WILL NEVER EVER get a VW in my life. There is a reason why their warrenty is only 2 years...When I got mine i knew that there would be electrical problems but never at this point...oh yea, when they break they are RIDICULOUSLY expensive to fix....

but good luck

FOREVER

Well...my boss owns a 2004 VW R32...in total it has been at service for almost 3.5 months since he got it: they have replaced the ECU 2 times...most of the sensors have been replaced...their sevices record sucks...and so do their quality! At first he loved it, now he really hates it! Good luck and I wish that your new GTI doesn't turn into a "german lemon" like the R32 of my boss.

Well congrats on your new ride i might be joining in soon cause im trying to make my mind up between a IX, a Mazdaspeed6 ,RX-8 or an A3 quattro ...more likely the Evo but im liking those new quattro A3!! i got a few friends that are dubs lovers, none of the them have had big problems with GTIs or R32's ...now the jetta owners...well thats another story....and 1 of the R32's had a computer problems but another guy had the VW master reprogram thing on his laptop and got it fix...but that was coming considering it was a turbo R32 with lots of aftermarket crap...

I know their electrical problems, and it was funny how the guy said that german made cars were top notch, i was like uhhh yeah. But this car had so much more *** to it than the RA that it wasnt even funny, i have the tiptronic and that thing hauls just like a real manual tranny. The one thing that I did lose from this accident is how my knee was fixed just about a month ago, well this accident, UNfixed it and messed it up back to the way it was. So im sorta stuck with a damn auto. And im kinda bored with my lancer. This car has a 4 year warranty anyways so im set. But I feel im getting a whole lot more car for the money with this GTI. Just do a cars.com comparison between the two and you'll see why. But now I know what it feels like to be a noob all over again, but now I have no forums to learn anything from.

Oh, and I have a BRAND NEW evo 8 steering wheel for sale now. 350 shipped. It was only taken out of the box to look at it, then the next day my car gets wrecked. First person to message me and paypal me the money, its yours.
