does anyone KNOW what those 2 roller thingys are underneath the front bumper? they look like rolling pins but are metal.

Thanks

it's the reinforcement bar or something like that.. it adds to the safety of the car i think... From what i know, i think if you live in US its mandatory to have it on, i'm not sure about canada...

they are actually stabilizers for the engine vibration. you will notice it to be slightly more shaky in the cabin when you take them out, but you lose the extra weight doing so. i took them off, no problem.

From the "Weight Reduction" post in the US Lancer Section...

So i put my RA up on the lift the other day to check out these "Rollers" everyone has mentioned... They are in fact NOT rollers at all... They are harmonic dampeners for chassis vibration... I removed both of mine, and there is no way possible these would help something roll under the car... The subframe they are attached to is very thin and would collapse first... Lots of vehicles use these type of dampeners to make the vehicle quieter... There is absolutely no harm in removing them however... I noticed no difference in my car afterwards... Ive even seen these on Truck rear axles to reduce vibrations in the driveline... just thought id clear that up...

must have big muscles by now. Thanks for the info, I will take mine off too. I too thought they had something to do with crash protection. I guess I could have searched.

On a brand new car, you are goin to have very few rattles/squeeks and vibrations... Give it 100k, and if you start to feel any vibes, put em back on and see if anything changes... I doubt it will... But thats what they are there for... Long term customer satisfaction...
