Mitsu's Paint Pen

I went to mitsubishi today to see about getting a hater mark and a oops my wing slid down my trunk lid mark taken care of and the guy in the parts department reccomended me this pen mitsubishi has. It comes in your exact paint color. Its a two sided pen one side with the paint and one side with the clear coat, has anyone tried this? i went ahead and ordered it before posting this thread due to its only 12 dollars so ill post on wednesday how it worked out.

yes, they suck. you're better off ordering some touch up with your paint code in a container so you can use a brush.

it sucks...unless they have changed it recently. the paint tip is too thick and covers all around the scratch instead of the actual scratch. be careful not to push too hard on it either or the tip will start coming apart

I tried it. It is decent for the money. Only problem with mine was mitsubishi gives you the same pen for rallye red and phoenix red. It looks good if you are careful. I did not like the clear coat though and did not use it. It came out in globs and made it look dodgy. I just did the paint only and it turned out great. I waxed the car about a week or two after and it really blended the touched up spots. The pen works fine if you are patient and have a steady hand.

i just got some of the paint out of it on a plastic plate and used a toothpick to fill the chip/scratch. works better than the pen.

+1 This probable will be your best bet. You can get touch up brushes at any auto parts store that work really well. The pen tip is a little fat. I use the corner or the tip and it was okay at filling in rock chips. All depends on the size of the scratch/chip you want to fill.

The clear from my pen was so thick and looked like crap.. I tried it on a couple chips and then stopped. I figure if I can always retouch up later if I buff the paint out without the clear. I don't really think the clear makes much difference if it is a small touch up. When I got my pen from the dealer it said Phoenix/Rallye Red. Its close enough for small spots but when I painted my eyelids I had Superior Auto mix me up a can of paint. $26 for paint and a can of clear and they match perfectly. This is another option if you want to use a spray can.

I have a GG ralliart and I ordered the touch up pen because I had a huge chip on my hood. The results were awful, it's not even close to matching the color. I would try it out on something else than your car before using it.

Just be patient with whatever paint you do and take your time. The results will be much better.

the cool silver paint pen they gave me sucked too...the silver was darker than the silver of the car soo it didnt match up too well and the clear coat kept taking off the color coat soo i didnt bother with it

If any ones still curious after all the bad revies i just did a test of my own. the paint was actually pretty close on the color i was impressed, however its blotchy and gets sticky quick and never really blends in just stays blotchy not to mention i did it outside ( no garage ) and it got a lil dirty. tried clear coat side and it seams more like paint remover. all around a pretty bad experience and now the scratches have turned into blotchy blemishes...dunno almost might rather have the scratches....anyways i used the pen in spots and a thin brush in others.
