RRM Projectors Question

Just received the RRM Proctor Headlamps. Before I jumped into installing them I was wondering if anyone could give me some help with these. I've never tried to remove or replace an entire headlight casing and as weird as it may seem I couldn't find anything in the how-to sections. Been a while since I've been on here and I figured someone would have done a write up on these. TIA for the help.

I'm almost positive the bumper needs to come off.

its a PITA job for such a simple thing.

your going to need to take out the, i think its 3, panel clips (ones towards the frint obviously) and the 1 screw in each fender well. then the 2 big body clips under the bumper. then take out the grill inserts, they just pop out, and remove the 2 screws attaching the bumper to the front crash bar. theres also 4 more of those little panel clips, 2 right above the grill inserts right on either side of the hood latch hook and 2 on top closer to the headlights. then you should be able to pull of the bumper...i give it a good wack with my hand on the sides near the fender wells to losen it if its not already...oh and dont forget to unplug the fog light wire its right on the underside of the bumper in the middle once you pull it slightly away from the car.
the headlights are held in by 3 screws, the 2 on top which you can easily see and then the 3rd is on the frame youll see it. just unplug and reessemble.

sorry if that got a little confusing id put up some pics to show you where they all are but im not home right now. hope that helps GL and make sure you post pics when your done

Thanks for all the help. If it isn't too much trouble and you get the chance, posting some pictures would be a big help. I always like pictures for DIY's. If you can't don't even sweat it, you've given me plenty to work with.

ask....and they will comee

hope these help if you havnt finished already

2 panel clips (unscrew center then pop out the other part) and the 1 screw going up (can remove with philips head screw driver or 10mm)

remove the 2 panel clips from the grill insert (if you dont have a panel poper, a flat head screw driver works to get out the middle and then pry the other part) and do the same for the 2 other panel clips attaching the bumper

pop out the grill and remove that bolt (10mm with an extension)

the big panel clip on the under side (needle nose pliers on the little tabs in the center and then pull)

those are the 2 bolts holding the headlight on, theres a third which i dont have a picture of, youll see it when you take off the bumper (10mm for all 3 bolts)

obviously do these steps for both sides of the car. hope it helped

You're the man!!! No I haven't started yet. Was raining today and I had a rough night last night so I didn't have the energy to mess with it today. I also have RRM's lower tiebar and anti sway bar I need to install. So I need to find the time and energy to get to it. I'll be sure to let yall know when it's all done.

UPDATE: Sorry for not getting back to you. I'm always pretty busy. First off I'd like to thank Ralli04. Your instructions were spot on, especially with the pictures. I got the lights installed last Friday. I have some positive and negative feedback that I'll list below. Overall the install was pretty easy. It took me about 90 minutes, but only because I used the opportunity to clean up the front and take care of some things I had installed up there while I had the bumper off. So with that being said let me get to my list.

1) F trying to unscrew the middle portion of the clips in the fender. It was a waste of time and I ended up just prying the entire clip out with a flathead. With that being said, they went back in just fine and I had no problems with breaking anything, on the fender or the clip, by prying them out.

2) If the nuts on your car look rusted BE VERY CAREFUL when taking them out. I broke off two nuts and had to drill them out. Not a big deal, but was sort of a pain.

3) Besides that I had no problems with taking off or putting back on the bumper. The old headlights also came out easily.

4) The new lights: MAJOR ISSUE....the top portion (where eyelids cover the old lights) has a light set up, as kind of a marker light. The problem is that the plug in the back stops the lights from fitting to the car. I had to uplug the light. After that they fit fine. Everything plugs up with no problem.

5) After looking at the lights, I'm not sure if I like the set up they have at the top. Looks kinda weird. I'd like to see how they would look at night if they were plugged in and on, but I'm thinking I'm gonna move my eyelids onto these new ones.

6) As far as illumination goes I'm not sure what the complaints have been about. They seem quite bright in my opinion, and this is coming from someone that uses silverstar lights for more brightness.

7) I need to align the headlights. They aren't lined up properly. The right side points up too far and it's sort of annoying when I'm driving on the highway because seeing them reflect off the signs is very apparent and bugs me. It maybe my fault that they are off though. Before I installed them I took them out so I could be familiar with how to replace the lights before they were fully installed. Something I'd recommend everyone that buys these check out because they are very different than the stock.

Outside of all that I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend them to others. (I need to get an explanation from Rock on the top light issue though)

you can aim the projectors. theres a screw that you can twist, it'll raise and lower and projector.

I was talking about the fender clips in the wheel wells that have the plastic screws in the middle. The screws are a waste of time.
