OZ to a Ralli
OZ to a Ralli
well i've been looking at swaping engines
i have a auto so i would have to have a auto ralli tranny and ecu
i understand alot what i have to do just have a couple more ?'s
1. It should bolt right up with the same motor mounts? ( i will be upgrading when i swap)
2. tranny should mount up right?
kinda of a n00bish ?'s but i just can't find that infomation any where

5 speed will requiere him to drill holes to install the new pedals and shift linkage
I also do not believe the spindles will work, and all the little surrounding of the engine will need to be changed (alternator, starter, complete wiring harness, AC, etc)
I doubt the mounts would fit without work as it seems EVO mounts can fit on ralliart but not on OZ
I have to be honest, going at this level it might be more benificial to go with a 4g63 turbo swap.
the ralliart is a nice car but it would be a lot cheaper to sell the OZ and buy an RA who has the rear brakes, stiffer body, bigger rear sway bar, stock front strut bar, aluminium roof and lighter windshield. You also get sportier seats, and a warranty!!!!
the ralliart engine is nice but not worth an engine swap if you ask me.

I've been told the spindles will work. They have the same spline. You'll need the mounts that are meant for the motor and tranny and the two lower mounts/rollers that are meant for the 4g69. You'll also need a wiring harness and ecu for that motor. I would say its worth it on a reasonable budget.
I agree with snakeoil, an engine swap is too much trouble for what you'll get in the end. Just Craigslist Craigslist Craigslist for a couple months and you'll find an RA near you for sale, don't jump on the first one you see because they're will always be better deals around the corner.

by the way TougeOZ 04, I'm not telling you this to be an ***.
I've been on that road in the past with my SR5 corolla. Swapped from the sohc 4afe engine to the popular 4age engine. This swap seemed really easy but at the end I just sold the car because I wasn't able to get it running.
Sure, I was able to get the engine in, swap a new tranny and even swap the ECU and engine harness...took me a few week-ends. I also didn't even bothered about AC, power steering and cruise control to make it easier.
Once you get into it, there is a lot of stuff nobody talks about and all those little extras end up costing quite a lot at the end.
And I was doing it with an old engine and parts where pretty easy to find.
remeber that the engine harness might be easy to swap but there is a lot of chances this cabin harness will not plug into the new ECU so you'll have to plice the cabin harness into a new plug for your new ECU
and you might also run into troubles with the engine harness plugging with the rear harness, meaning the fuel pump and rear lights will not run until you splice and rework it. Then you will have fun with figuring out why those fuses keep on exploding.
I'm telling you in real honesty, unless you like having a non working car for a good month or two and going back and forward to scrap yards finding a part you just noticed you need, sell the OZ and buy a ralliart.
If you do go on with the swap, expect a good 1000 to 2000$ extra for unplanned issues.
