No Aux Mode?

Hi all,
I am planning to add an ipod adapter to my stock headunit - however I can't get it to go into AUX mode by holding the CD button - did some RAs not have AUX modes? Was this only on sun and sound cars? If so I believe I can retrofit a S & S head unit with some adapter harnesses, and if so, does the Infinity head unit look different on the face (I'm searching ebay and all look the same). As always, thanks in advance!

I didn't know that RAs had an Aux mode... I have a S&S system in my car and I'm not exactly sure where you'd put that....

Okay, if there is no aux mode can anyone explain how this works:

I figured that the HU needed to be switched to receive the ipod input. Maybe not?

I just bought this:

Looks like maybe I am hosed if we have no aux mode.

Well you can rip out your HU and see if there's a connection back there but I'm not sure how you would be able to play it unless the cable you bought comes with instructions on how to use it...

Why not just buy a whole new head unit?

Cost and complexity. I bought this because I like the idea that I could use all stock components and have a "factory-like" install. Of course I can (and will) go aftermarket if I have to, but frankly a $25 cable is a lot more attractive if it will do the job.

At close to $150 for the factory cable it might be cheaper to replace the head unit if the after market one doesn't work. On my wifes '08 Outlander You hold down the CD Button and after a bit it switches to the Aux. But the one inn her car is built in and a different head unit. I'd love to find out that you found out a cheaper answer.

By the way good job on owning a Sportback! And your in So Cal Also, How Cool! We should make a point of both going to MOD this summer!

First, the bad news - it dosen't work with our stock head unit. However, I may have found a factory head unit that it does work with it:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....:X:RTQ:AU:1123

I may give it a a shot assuming that the price stays reasonable - I really do want an OEM solution if at all possible - my neigborhood is less than stellar and I don't want to walk around with stereo face everywhere I go.

More to come....

Ahh.. I see what you mean then about not wanting to do an aftermarket.... Well just see how much everything will cost to put together... If not why don't you just buy some cord to plug your ipod into your cigarette lighter? Wouldn't that be easier?
