True. There is a drop in low end power with the cutout open. Not sure how much but it is noticeable. However, the top end pulls harder due to the lack of restriction in the exhaust path. If I could I would like to be able to have the best of both worlds and have the cutout open according to a certian RPM range, giving me the power down low and in the higher RPMs. Unfortunately, the manufacturer warns against opening the valve while the engine is under load due to the possibility of burning up the motor that controls it.
So I guess it's really a question of when and where in the RPM range the power is needed as to when it should be used.

A bit... the sound of the turbo doesn't change the entire characteristic of the exhaust note, just adds something to it.

It quiets it down quite a bit. Heck I have a recirculated waste gate and its a lot louder once it opens up.
