Good guide but half of it is just advertising for their products plus their prices are insane.

Yea RPW has been around for a while now. They do make some decent products for our cars. and I mean, they are one of the only companies out there who even bothered making parts for the 4g69, which is part of the reason why its so costly. the other reason why it cost so much? they are based out of australia. economy is some what different i'd imagine, PLUS you got to pay a bundle for shipping.... But yea RPW is a good shop, chowtime (chowetime ?) has almost every single one of their products, and has a good relationship with RPW, if you have any questions, she'll be able to help you out.

I remember looking at this Aussie website years ago. Here is my opinion now of their mods list after 5 years of owning my Lancer. Other guys on this forum have lots of experience with different and wilder mods, these are just my observations of my simple daily driver with non-blown engine:

1. Shifter - our stock shifter is an evo unit. A short shifter is a personal preference thing but I think unnecessary for great shifting feel: I am very pleased with installing solid shifter bushings underhood and in the interior frame, and a heavy steel knob - it gives a riflebolt action with no slop. Beautiful.

2. Air Filter - SRI just sucks hot air and loses power. Stock air filter has almost zero pressure drop across it and so is not a restriction so can leave it in. You can have an awesome intake air supply for $300 cheaper than aftermarket CAI, see the RA how-to section.

3. Exhaust - stock system is well designed. If you want to optimize it on a budget get the crumpled midpipe section replaced and select a direct flow-thru style muffler. Less back pressure from a larger diameter complete system is good but $$, might want to save this for when you get blown.

4. (i) Suspension - I stayed with stock so far due to the rough roads where I live, and it's served me well for fast road use and occasional track day. Cranswick lives on crappy roads too and he will report soon on his new coil-overs; if he can live with them around here I will get some.
(ii) Sway bar - I bought their White Line unit - a very noticeable change from understeer to quicker turn-in and neutral cornering; even the wife commented on the sharpness after she took it for a rip. Easily worth the money.

5. Brakes - full stock serves me okay for fast road and occasional track use. I have front/rear EBC greenstuff pads sitting here to install, debating on drilled discs, will report later. The braided steel brake lines are not a noticeable upgrade, but then again I swapped when my original rubber lines were new and still hard.

6. Underdrive pulley - I have an Aftershock unit, unsure if it's done much, but hasn't hurt so I leave it on.

7. "Computer" mods - I have the Hackish reflash. Noticeable power gain across the rev range, and higher redline and the launch control are fun, and no CELs. Worth the money.

Like I said, lots of expertise from other guys on this board for all the mods you could ever think of, just search.

You can get pretty well everything from Canadian suppliers, unless you specifically want RRM or RPW name brands.
