blown motor?

Ok so I type this right now from my phone waiting for the tow truck. Was driving and out of nowhere start to hear a sound that sounds like a empty coke can rattling around my cup holder. But louder. This sound only happened during around 3500 rpm after about a min of that my car went into limp mode. While this was going on I did not see my temp gauge raise. Car then died and smoke everywhere. Any ideas?

check your oil level. check your timing belt. check your balance belt. check your plugs.

my car made awful noises when the serp belt got chewed but yours is smoking which is worrying...

my bet is on the balance shaft belt. wait, do these have a balance belt? sorry i thought you drove an evo

Good advice, I'd also recommend that you check your belts, that is the cause I suspect as well.

Don't think its the belts and i only say that as the belts are about 20-30k doesn't mewn they coukdnt have popped though. And I checked oil while its not full its not drastically low. I also popped the rad cap to find almost no coolant which threw me off. Looked under car and the car is dripping coolant from tranny area yet i can't find any leaks up top. Though its dark as Hell and I'm still waiting for the tow truck. Sad face.

Update. I dumped in more coolant prior to the truck arriving. When he began pulling the car onto the bed its started to bleed out the fresh coolant. From where i couodnt see.

Sounds similar to when my radiator popped due to the fan controller failing.

Well coolant leaking could be good and bad. Good if it's a busted hose or even radiator. Easy but not necessarily cheap repair that the novice can perform.
Bad if it's that the cylinder head or block is now ventilated.

Good luck, remember sites like http://www.mypartshop.com/ are your friend.

well after the car was on the towtruck heading down to my gpas house(had it send there, easier to work on there) i realized its most likely my coolant line for my heater core. had to do a bypass on them due to bad heater core and the line popped off once before but i caught it right then and there. so hopefully the overheat didnt kill anything in the motor.
