Anyone having gas tank issues??

Ok, so I read that the RA has a 13.2 gallon tank. I've driven the car a few times down to where the 'empty warning' light comes on, and the needle is right down at E. When I refill it, it fills to 10 gallons.

Has anyone else had these problems? Has anybody filled up to more than 10? And, what's the avg. mileage you're getting on a tank of gas?

Thanks.

I have noticed that, I think the warning light comes on with like 3 gallons left. Because I have gone another 70 miles with the warning light on and then put 12.5 gallons in my tank.

So wait, if Sypder's having similar issues, this is a Mitsu thing? I'm new to this, having come from a Cavalier where the light pops on if you're down to like half a gallon.

I've noticed the same thing, and as soon as the light comes on I rush to the nearest gas station, and yeah, then it fills up to 10.5 or so gallons......I get about 22 mpg per tank...mixed driving.....the most I have experienced is 27/28 straight freeway 80+mph for the whole tank.....

My gas tank is fine, I ran it down low today and put 11 gallons into it and it wasn't full. Just remember you still have gas floating around in your hoses and the engine and at the bottom of your tank, which can easily add up to 2 gallons.

yeah even my 02 was the same way. I actually drove 100 miles after my gas light came on in my 2002 lancer but so far my 04 is the same way. This is one of those 'problems' that really isn't a problem though. It's almost like a safety net.

I'm guessing the light just comes on as a precaution, which is good. You're not supposed to run your gas tank dry.

i generally go about 25-30 miles after the gas light comes on and only put around 10-11 gallons in. i have been averaging about 25-26 mpg at around 75-80. but if i go the speed limit i get closer to 30 mpg. so i generally get around 25-26. but that beats the hell out of my jeep, 15mpg on the freeway if i am lucky and 12mpg around town.
