Drove to work everything was fine but on my way back when i stopped at at light i took off shifted in 2nd and i had no power nothing i pressed the pedal to the floor and the car wasnt even revving i glided to the side of the road turned my car off for 5 mins and started it back up and everything was fine continued driving and it did the same thing to me again i again stopped and let it rest for 5 mins and ever since then i havnt had any problems with it *crosses fingers* anyone have any ideal what it could of been?

hmm..i'm not really pro at this stuff but i'm thinking 94 is a bit high for our RA engines? i remember Cranswick talking about "higher octane gas=/=cleaner gas"..it's just that higher octane gas is for more power to be used by higher compression engines..not too sure with my answer but maybe it helps? i learned all this from EvoM lol..

cheers bro!

with stock timing, and compression you don't even need 91...it shouldn't make your car run like **** though...

That honestly sounds more like an APS problem. I know when I was having problems with mine things like gas and rain seemed to set it off but turns out it was all coincidence. See if a check engine light comes on in a few days.

I say this because if your giving it gas and the engine isnt revving the only parts between your accelerator and making the engine rev is the APS, ECU, and TPS. Other than that if the Throttle was opening the engine would rev. Octane would have nothing to do with the engine not revving.

As far as I know. I could very well be wrong so Im hoping someone backs me up on this or teaches me otherwise. LOL

Probably bad gas, I have put 110 octane in my car at the track and she ran like a champ. I can't see 94 octane hurting anything.

I used 94 octane all summer because its only 2 cents more per litre than the 91 octane my reflash is tuned for. Higher octane has nothing to do with your issue.

i had this problem before, and i posted about it, but a loose battery terminal was causing the engine to go into limp mode while driving...turning off the car would resolve the issue temporarily

Pretty sure it was going into limp mode cuz the engine wasnt running properly. Come to think about it after all this I unplugged my battery and reconnected it maybe i had the same thing as you or just a coincidence that it went away.

Any CELs? A failing Accel Position Sensor can cause intermittent symptoms just like that.

I had similar issues. APPS sensor. Someone mentioned this might be a recall and Mitsu will replace it for free. I didnt hassle with any of that and just forked over the $.

likely the APPS....like said already the higher octane gas is not better gas, it wont help you win, it wont clean out your fuel system...it's for when need less misfires...

APPS is not a recall...just a know issue...all they do is reflash the ecm....
then tell you if the issue returns u need a new one, and that should fix the car permanently...

thats what they told to me 2 yrs ago at the dealer when mine glitched 2 times in a weekend...then they took my $110 for the reflash, and luckily it hasn't returned since...
ive had it in the back of my mind that the thing might glitch again sometime...but for now its ok...im not about to spend ~$250(last i checked,or w/e it is now) on a "just in case" part...
plus they also told me if i have a code reader and the engine light comes on(wich it should for that issue...i forgot the code), just erase the code/s and it'll fix till it glitches again(same principle as a ecu reset, aka hard reset)...

if u clear it and it keeps happening continuously there's sumn wrong...and it's not your gas

I have a cel due to not having a cat but i got it checked after that and nothing else showed up. The APPS sensor is the one next to the throttle?
