Nos

Would you get NOS for your 04 RalliArt? I know alot of people dislike NOS because if used improperly it can really do damage to your cars engine. But for those of you who have had good and bad experiences with NOS what would you suggest? My friend has a NOS bottle with ZEX plugs in his car and he said he only runs about 25 shot and he gains a whole second in his quarter mile times. What would you suggest... brands, how much to use, etc...

I will and I am planning on using nos. If you use nos correctly and watch your RPM's you shouldnt have any problems, and no more then a 55 shot with stock internals.

I have a great setup from NX that's designed for imports. It's the safest way to go it being a wet shot. PM me if you guys are interested, you'll save a few hundred bucks over new.

Nitrous isnt that bad if done correctly. I personally dont want it because I am not racing any more. There are some new set-ups with silinoids that control the spray so that you dont detonate. Supposedly it makes nitrous pretty safe...considering.

the companies today are really making these kits so as anyone can use it and are as safe as nitrous can be. have 04 ra plan to put kit from other car into w/75 shot NX kit. had a 02 civic lx w/75 shot ran 15.70 et w/nitrous 14.55 et w/just turbo w/all stock internals, 91 mustang lx with 175 shot ran 12.16 at 110mph w/all stock internals also, and had no problems. if you are worried about a lean condition, zex kits are computer controlled so if car starts to run lean it turn the kit off.

I'll say this... after lots of experience in NOS and many hours of research... NO DRY SYSTEMS. As much as companies say that 50-55 shot is fine it isn't. A dry shot, even with their supposed fuel support systems, do not add the fuel necessary to prevent detonation on the mitsu's. Don't know about other cars but mitsu ecu's go into a open loop under full throttle that has predefined timing and fuel maps. They will not change without changing the fuel system by more than 30lph in fuel delivery which is either controlled by a different fpr or a bigger fuel pump and regulator.

Now not all nos is bad for the mitsu's. A wet system, whether TB injected or tapped into the manifold you need the mixture of extra fuel with the nos in order to prevent deadly detenation. Wet systems have been the only systems proven and systems that i've researched and would give a thumbs up to. Trust me the few extra bucks for this system is worth it over a blown motor.

I'd like to hear more about this Civic. Because I am pretty certain they are not turbo'd 7th gen civics running around. Utilizing the stock D-series motor that is. And a 75 shot driven properly should've netted you high 14's easily.

I would also like to add that the 75shot on that motor would be about as much as the stock internals could handle, maybe even less. So I'd like to know what you did for engine management.

IMO Turbo is much safer. Even for experienced users of NoS...all it takes is one bad run to blow your engine.

Personally....i think BOTH could be dangerous. If you have someone who is a little too "ambitious" one day and turns the boost up or plays w/ SAFC settings it too is easy to do some damage.
I understand where your coming from....I think the key to either method is knowledge and experience.

I have seen way too many engines blown because of NOS. Most of the little 4 bangers out there simply werent made to handle NOS. Well they can, but it is SOOOO rough on it that I personally dont think its worth the risk unless you have the proper mods. To each their own, but I personally dont recommend NOS. Just my .02
