NOT selling my Ralliart!
I know, that's a stupid title for a post, but let me explain. Selling it was the plan, but I've changed my mind.
I have to sell one of my cars, either my sportback or my 99 accord coupe. It turns out that the Honda is losing oil, and since it's got about double the mileage and needs paint and body work, plus is five years older, it gets sold.
I bought the Lancer for use as my daily driver in 2009, but with my veterinary practice failing during the recession we had to sell my wife's Odyssey the next year. The choice of wagon vs. coupe for family car (plus my preference for the 5 speed in the accord) meant that she got the Lancer for her daily driver. Over time, I became less active on this forum, because the Lancer wasn't "mine", I just drove it once in a while.
Well, I got a good deal on an old Sienna, so the wife's happy to be back in a minivan, and I have an extra car to sell off.
So, an alternative title for this post: "I'm back!" Here's my new to me (after six years of ownership) Sportback, fresh from a bumper touch up by my paint and body wizard, and then a workover with the claybar (sorry, couldn't upload the photo, "too big").
This car's been more reliable than the accord in that period. The honda's had some electrical issues (HVAC controls), so it's been quite dependable too, but nothing's gone wrong with the Lancer. Of course, it's only got 113,000 miles, so time will tell.
The reasons why I considered keeping the Honda:
>manual transmission (I hate slushboxes), plus it just got a lightweight flywheel and exedy clutch.
>More comfortable (better ride, and I hate the recaros in the Lancer).
>Better gas mileage (about 28 mpg), combined with a 20 gallon tank means I can go for weeks without buying gas, even with my 36 mile commute. I hate that tiny tank in the Lancer. The accord has a range of over 500 miles.
>Much better brakes. The accord has a budget big brake setup in front: Prelude Vtec rotors, Integra Type R calipers, with stock rear disks. That car stops like a slammed door compared the the Lancer.
I'll miss the stick shift and brakes a lot.
But I'm back!

Thanks, good to be here! And, I have to say, there can be a big difference between the Honda forums and this site. There's lots less drama and trolling here. That's a definite plus when choosing between the two cars.
