I also live in Maryland. Radar dectors are not illegal what so ever in maryland but they are illegal in DC. If you get caught with one in DC they take it from you and I pretty sure you can get mailed back to your house if you just say you didn't know cuz you live in Maryland. Also if you live in Maryland, Viriginas laws about speeding are alot different and way more strict be very careful going or 80 in a 55 gets you thrown in jail and your car repo-ed. I have the passport 8500 which I think is the best for the money $250 with shipping. Consumer Reports gave it the same rating as the Valentine 1 and its about $150 less and it has a better city mode so there are less false alarms around automatic doors.

Since we are on the topic of radar detectors. I also have a Passport 8500. it has worked great so far. but lately and very randomly when i go to use the windsheild wipers and spray fluid my 8500 gives me a false Laser alert. is this happening with anyone else? it is something i can live with, it's just alittle crazy.
