Dash Rattles!

I guess you get what you pay for...

So far my review of my Lancer sportback has been a liittle worse than mixed for multitude of reasons. And here's another reason:

My right side of dashboard has developed a quite noticeable rattle. Everytime over a bump, rattle rattle, should I ignore it accepting tha I'm driving a less than perfect econo box or get mad and take it apart? LOL.

I had that same exact problem on my ralliart. I took it to the dealer and they fixed it, they said it was some valve cap or something that was very loose under the hood. I know it sounds like its coming from the right passenger airbag area right? Its under the hood somewhere, if you can't find it take it to the dealer.

the dealer fixed it by just tightening something that was loose. I haven't heard the sound since 8- )

Take it in. That's what the warranty and adjustment periods are for.

they better not say that, because i had that same exact problem and it was coming from my front passenger side. They lifted up my hood and found that something was loose, after looking around for 2 hours hehe. but yea i had that same problem, if they try to say some other bull **** curse at the manager like i did, and they will hook u up, i broke a buncha stuff on my car that wasnt on my warranty but after arguing with the manager i ended up getting alot of my stuff fixed from the dealer for free!

I have the rattle too

Sure glad to hear there's a fix because I have the exact same rattle from the same place and I only have 1,700 Km on the odometer. Other than that...this RA is awesome in performance considering it's an automatic. My last car was a Toyota Celica GT in 5-speed and this RA sportback is way faster in all ranges! Proves that power means everything.

...nothing turns the wheels better off the line than torque itself.

Dammit,
I am having the same problem and my car only has 350 miles on it. WTF. I took it to the dealer and of course, it wasn't making the rattle when I drove it there. For people who have had this problem, do you know what the rattling actually is so I can fix it myself or tell the dealer what is wrong?

My rattle is coming from one spot in the dash. If I press down on the area to the right of the passenger-side airbag, you can hear it creak. Can this be fixed? I'm not sure if I have the same issue as everyone else.

fareastkorean...could you find out from your dealer exactly what they tightened. I've had huge problems with the mitsu dealers in my area...they are by all means incompetent, unless you point them in the right direction they'll tell you there's nothing wrong and send you on your way. I would greatly appreciate it, as would others with this problem.

Question

Yeah, can someone tell us what the exact problem is?

I don't trust my dealer even to install tires... ...let alone find a fix for an intermittent noise!

Well, if people don't want to fiddle with the dealer, how about this thought.

Would Dynamat do anything for the rattles? I know it works wonders for acoustic deadening, but does it stop rattling as well?
