2005 Ralliart exhaust options
-I'm looking for some budget exhaust option for my 2005 ralliart. Basically inspection is coming up in a month and i have a major exhaust leak on both ends of the flex pipe. I want to upgrade to something louder then stock with some performance benefits. I am new to exhaust work and I haven't found much aftermarket support for the 2.4. I will be taking it to a shop to have the work done but i am not sure what the cheapest most beneficial option is yet. Does anyone know of any aftermarket down pipes that will fit the 2.4? Should I have the shop try to fix the flex pipe and then do 3 inch after the cat? Opinions? (budget friendly opinions)

I wouldn't worry about a downpipe. The stock car already has a tubular 4-2-1 "header" Get a shop to cut out your flex pipe and weld in a new universal flex to keep costs down. If you want to do an exhaust, do not do a 3"... 3" is what you would need on a turbo application. You will be fine with 2.25 or 2.5" maximum. Pick a good resonator and a good muffler or it will sound terrible.
Years ago a friend had a 2.4L Ralliart which we did an aftermarket header, downpipe, high-flow cat and a custom 2.5" straight back to a straight through muffler. It sounded terrible with any throttle. Tinny, buzzy, raspy, and very loud. Like Honda bad, if not worse.
Budget friendly like I said I would so the replacement flex pipe, and maybe do an axle back with a quality muffler. Just to get a little bit of noise if that's what you're after.
