well I took off the Ralliart Emblem on the trunk of my Black RA as I have thought that it was a bit of an eyesore from day one. For some reason the black plastic looking badge just didnt fit being surrounded by nice chrome labels everywhere else. So its gone regardless. I also HAPPEN to have come up on a shiny new chrome "ES" label.

So guys what do you think. Should I go deceptive sleeper and throw on the chrome stock "ES" badge?

 

Leave the ES off. That would be considered "opposite rice" (definition- to make a car look as though it were a cheaper model). You can be a sleeper without emblems- debadged.

what kind of mods do you have? to me, the definition of a sleeper is having a fast car and de-badging or putting on deceptive lower badging. like a modded eclipse GS-T putting an RS badge.

but unless your car is fast don't do it. It's like having a Honda Civic LX and then putting on DX emblems - what's the point??

 

I think the proper comparison would be between a Civic DX and SI in my opinion...


I wouldn't go fo the ES badge nonetheless. On the other hand, I like the fact you don't feel like you should advertise that your Lancer can smoke any other base model out there (and any stock Civics for that matter).

 

I took off ALL the badges - including the mitsu star (not the front one - that one's getting painted body color) and am contemplating removing the spoiler too. (i just don't feel like installing a 3rd brake light)

 

Just a note: remember that by uninstalling the spoiler you're also up for a bit of bodywork (holes in the trunk). I'd advise against doing that if you don't want your sleeper look to get a bit expensive... or have holes plugged by small rubber caps in your trunk (doesn't look that nice!).

 

Yeah I know- that's what's holding me up.Seems like a lot of work w/ little or no return. I don't want to spend the cash for the holes b/c I could use that for mods. I'm slowly talking myself out of it. I will do it eventually!

I am considering doing something similar.
1) Replace my trunk to remove the large spoiler
2) EVO VII taillights.
3) Slap a Ralliart badge on

It would only fool those that have no clue but it could be fun.

 

yeah it wouldn't fool too many, the evo's widebody, hood and fat front mount intercooler is a dead giveaway.

you could paint the IC black maybe people would think you had a base lancer with a evo kit

 

I love sleepers. I don't like the ES badge idea but to pull up to a civic that has $5000 in body mods and smoke them in my stock looking ralliart, well I don't know of a better feeling.

 

i dont think itd fool anybody and i think doing those tings would made it look better.

and mitsumichael, i think that putting an es badge would take away from the car. just debadge it.

 

yea, es badge isnt too fun. really want to mess with people? Put a pontiac emb on the back and paint over the mitsu on the front. what the hell! why not throw in an old pony decal!
