Question Issues with New Ralliart

Hi Everyone,

I just have a quick question to see if what i am experiencing with my new RA to be normal amongst all RA.

1. When I start the car and its cold, before the idle drops the car begins to rumble and shake. Is this normal?

2. When I turn on the heating or AC(set the fan to off) air still blows out of the vents enough that I can actually feel it and I have to changes the temp if gets to hot or too cold.

Thanks

Congrats on your new RA!

Answer to 1

Yes, its normal. It will be more pronounced if you put on a CAI kit.

Answer to 2

Mine does the same thing. It just blows a little bit. I think they do that to keep air circulating in the car.

Anyone else having this happen as well?

Welcome to the Lancer family.

Mine rumbles pretty much any time I'm sitting still and idle. Especialy if I have the AC turned up. I don't think it is a big deal.

Most all cars do the air thing. What's happening in the outside vent flap isn't closing, so the force of the air as you drive pushes it though the vent system. If it really bugs you, set your vents on recirc and it won't do it anymore.

There is a button (on the far right?) that does the same thing without having to set it on max AC.

RAs aren't the only car that does that. Most (if not all) cars have random, minor misfiring for less than a minute on a cold start. We can hear it easier with the RA because of the exaust. Pop the hood when you are going to start it cold and start it. Go to the front of the car and watch the valve cover shake a bit for about 30 seconds-1 minute. Totally normal. If it does this when the engine is warm, that is not normal. However the check engine light will turn on in that case.
