The dealership installed my 3rd Brake Light in the Rear Window. Wasn't willing to get pulled over for something so stupid.

OMG, by law you are only required to have 2 brake lights!!!! jeez... The third brake light is like a safety feature that is totally, TOTALLY optional!

I have an EVO 8 wing... and for ALL vehicles afer a certian year... i believe it's early 90's all manufacturer's are required to have a center brake light... Not just a 3rd brake light, but a center mounted 3rd brake light... I work in auto insurance... trust me, this is a manufacturer requirement...

The cops in my neighborhood & there are LOTS have never pulled me over, I don't really think that they would notice something like this, but I'm taking my chances...

If your car came factory equipped with a 3rd brake light, your car is required to have it. I believe the year was 1986 or 1987 when cars were required to have a 3rd brake light. Same thing with seat belts, if the car came with them, it is required to have them. The car didn't come with them, you don't need them.

How much did ya'll get charged for the installation of the 3rd brake light??? Cuz, its pretty easy to install. I took mines from my 02 OZ and installed it to my RA...All I used was a drill and those little saw cuttin' tools. Anyways how much did you purchase it for???...need to buy another one when I install my other wing on my OZ.

you don't have to have 3 breaklights... by law only 1 break light has to work.. 2 tailights, 2 head lights and 1 front and 1 rear turn signal, as well as the reverse lights... the 3rd break light is unesscary.. The US Regualtions make it so there are 3 break lights from the factory, but only 1 has to work...
