Shifter Want's To Shifit For Me...?
I think my shifter is haunted,. Anyways, when im about to shift into 2nd, and if i cluth/shift from "1st to 2nd" really fast, I feel her pop like she wants to go into 2nd, scared me because im suppose to put her into 2nd not my car. Than today, it happened. I shifted at 4k rpms in 1st into 2nd, and BAM... she popped into 2nd. Should I take her to mitsu? I know this should not be happening and it just started happening 2days ago. Now im worried, like I dont wanna shift her. I havent driven her since I got off a work today, early this afternoon. :mitsu:

Your car's turning into an automatic.
Yes, definitely get it checked out. Does it do the same thing on the 3-4 shift? How about when you're taking it really easy on the car? When you're really beating on it? |
I think its the whole clutch/shift thing... its prolly normal cuz i have the same problem....it doesn't do it all the time though. If it is a problem let me know how things go with the dealership.

Nope, never 3rd to 4th or 4th to 5th or even downshifting. Only 1st to 2nd when i rev her up for spirted driving. If I shift around 3500rpm she doesnt pop into 2nd, its smooth and i put her in 2nd. This sucks, I have to work all tommorow and than im going out of town, so now im stuck with this probably intil next week :(

That's really strange. keep us posted.

i have had this happen to. i am pretty sure its only happens when you lazy-clutch
|
same thing happens to me....about once or twice a day...im gonna have them look at it during my first oil change.
Anyway, trust me its not the clutching, ive made a very conscious effort to make darn sure that the clutch stays glued to the floor throughout the entire shift and it still happens.... If i find out whats going on i will certainly post it. |
I get it on mine. I think its just how our cars work. Its a known issue.
|
also seems to happen more when you dont tapper the accelerator off before trying to go to second. IE: when i drive like an a$$hole ;) When you have the rpm's a bit high, you can take the car out of gear without using the clutch at all. I think this is kind of whats happening, which would 'pop' it towards 2nd. Since the RPMs are alerady up, it takes rather smoothly.
|
As people are saying, it won't do this if you mash the clutch.
|
I get it too and its only form 1st to 2nd. I find its when I accelerate in fist and before I can get the clutch pressed the motor slows itself down for a split second, putting pressure onto first gear. Then once you press the clutch it snaps out at you cause you releive all the pressure on the gear. So I think the mistake is taht, instead of pressing the clutch at the "peak" of acceleration, I think I'm pressing as it decelrates for a split second causing this pressure.
