Regular or Premium GAS on RA's?
I have heard many people on this site said that putting premium gas on RA's without getting the piggyback or turbo is useless. Others also said that they feel like their RA has better throttle response with premium gas.
I have tried putting 91 Shell V Power Octane in my RA and it seem to have better throttle response than regular 87. Dont know if everyone else gets the same result. Maybe it has to do with the different mods that I have or maybe its where I live..Live in Cali - can get hot sometimes. Mods: Injen CAI Custom CBE with Magnaflow Muffler Progress Springs Underbody Light Hankook K106 Tires |
yes puttin premium gas will give u a somewhat better throttle response. But it doesnt necessary add u kno HP. Ive heard puttin 89 or 91 ( we have 93) doesnt make a difference. Even with the RRM piggyback ive heard that ur suppose to put 91, someone here did it with 89 i believe and got the same gains. I stil put 93 cause i believe the engine responses better.

Yea, thats what I felt too but many people said that its a waste of money lol but i love the power. It seems like the rpm goes up faster too and better throttle response. Anyone want to give better explanation? please do

Premium Fuel = Longer burn time = higher compression
|
I run 110+ octane every tank.
|
the butt dyno is always right, go with the high octane and don't let anybody tell you different. Even tho I wouldn't bet on the higher octane making any difference in a RA.
|
Side note on this, is there any problems with mixing octane levels?
|
its all in your head... Hows that for an explanation? Putting higher octane in a car does NOT give it more power.. Never did, never will. In fact if you have a compression ration that is suited for regular grade, then you are actually making it harder for the car to burn its fuel. Wasted money. But if you THINK that it gets you more power, then by all means, waste away.. Nothing is real anymore these days anyway right? Its all what you perceive

LOL 110_ octane ? thats like Rocket fuel. OKay back to my subject..
I am not sure, I swear its not just my head. I can feel the difference in how fast the throttle response is and how fast the rpm climbs. Does the mods have to do anything with it? I know I dont have turbo or the piggyback yet but it really does seem to be a difference... I am sure because its just not me that noticed it. I know only the dyno results can tell the difference but its not worth getting a dyno on.(i dont know how much it would cost) . |
You're gonna need some kind of tuning mod to feel any real power from higher octane.
