Quick Q: HID's

i got a HID for free, given by a friend of mine since he said it doesnt want it. its 12000K and im guessin that would be purple right? anyway, im jus wondering if anyone here has 12K in their lancer (or any car) and if it looks good. i could try it but i jus wanna know, then i could just sell it or something if i change my mind lol, cuz it hasnt been open. thxx

yes 12000K is a violetish pink color. the light output on these would suck balls and ive only seen it one car that it looked good... lets just say your car better be pretty f**kin ballerific to pull off 12000K.

agreed!^^^^

I wouldn't keep it... I would say most you would want to go is 6000k or even maybe 8000k but no higher than that... light output is best on the 6000k which is what i have

STItoEVOX Mar 22, 2009 10:04 AM

^^ 4100-4300K will give you the most light output, that's why OEM HID's are usually around that range. It's closer to natural sunlight.

=( i have 8000k that i still have to install... anyone have any pics of that colour on a lancer? i hope its not TOO blue

pnoy_RA06 Mar 22, 2009 12:01 PM

lol ok, yeah i was thinkin the same on not putting it on. since i dont even have projectors (yet), i dont want the light to spread out everywhere..and i might try and sell it and buy a 4300K instead.

STItoEVOX Mar 22, 2009 12:49 PM

your gonna need different bulbs for projectors, D2S, as opposed to the D2R for reflector housings. You probably got the D2R with that kit.

i have mine at 8k, it's a little blue. Really white though

I have 5000K in both my RA and my crappy old bike.

Seriously considering converting the wife's car and bike, and the truck and bus. Halogens, even Silverstar Ultras, do not compare.
