RA's driving in the snow
 

Does anyone live somewhere with a lot of snow? I have a lot of snow here, and I get this gnarly build up of ice in front/above my rear wheels and it rubs like mad when I take corners or hit a bump. If anyone has any advice on how to break this up that would be nice. Because I can't seem to get my hand in there to take it out. Any help would be nice.

If the snow build up doesn't come off by just taping on the car the only other way I can think of is to get your car inside were the ice can melt.

well it does come off, but it builds up on top of the wheel well so when it comes off it just sit on the tire and rubs the whole time I am driving. I wish I could park my car inside, unfortunately I live in an apartment at school and there is no parking garage or anything.

I used to live just north of you in federal way, and when it did snow i just hit it with the hose, yeah the water is cold but it knocks enough ice off where you wont rub anymore.

I guess I'm going to find out tommorrow.

I've been having that problem here myself. There's not much space to get in there to get it out. I did find one way - takes a little extra work though. Turn your wheels as far as they'll go to one side - you'll have nice access to the one wheel, then turn your wheels as far as they go to the other side and you can do the other wheel.

KR that is what I have been doing, but the back wheels still give me a hell of a time. the fronts are annoying when I turn so those are the most crucial for me to clean, but I seem to be cleaning them every day, it is getting ridiculous. But thanks for the insight.

I have all stock on right now. The allseasons are doing fine in the snow

Yeah I think i'll spend money on good summer tires instead of buying winter tires.

I wonder if anyone made a kit where you put in a device like an engine block heater but you heat up the tires a bit so it will melt the snow off the wheels =P

So far good response in the snow. Although not much snow today.

Yeah we have like 2 feet, and it is starting to slide a bit. I think it is more the snow than the car because cars with studs and awd are even starting to lose traction. But yeah it handles really well in the snow compared to other cars I have driven.
