How to Install AUX in Lancer's with 6 CD Changer

Hello to all

This is my first post in evolutionm so im happy to join and offer you the possibility to add Aux to your Mitsubishi factory Stereo.

What you need:

Factory Stereo from mitsubishi I think MN141489 or MN141490
6 CD changer underneath the HVAC controls in central
3 24/26 AWG wires, single wire
13 pin din and 20 pin din from behind the stereo and cd changer
1 philips screwdriver
1 flat screwdriver
RCA to 3.5mm cable
1 watch flat screwdriver (the most little you can find)
electrical tape
1 Phantom CD (i call it this way because it has a track with no sound)
AND PATIENCE

NOTICE:

when taking the 13 pin din to 20 pin din cable, the CD CHANGER has 2 connections, one 13 pin din and one 20 pin din. the 20 pin din connector belongs to the cd changer and the 13 pin din connector to the stereo.

1. We need to take out the stereo and cd so first you need to pull out the HVAC Knobs, there are 2 bolts here.. get them out
2. Facing ground above the 6 CD changer there are 2 bolts, take them out and pull the black cover so you can see the 4 bolts that hold on the CD Changer
3. Take the 4 bolts and take out the CD changer, notice there is only one cable that looks like a giant PS/2 cable from a mouse or keyboard, that is your 20 pin DIN cable.
4. Slightly pull out the faceplate around the Factory Stereo using your flat screwdriver, the whole thing will come out. notice 4 bolts on the stereo
5. take out the 4 bolts that hold the stereo and pull gently, you notice at your left the antenna, at center the factory connections and your right the other part of the giant alike PS/2 conecction this is your 13 pin DIN cable.
6. Take the 13 pin to 20 pin din cable apart and notice the one that has this type of pattern

4----3----2----1
8----7----6----5
12--11--10----9
------13
there should be full of pins here this is the 13 pin DIN and is the one will we working with, the 20 pin din connector has some pins missing.
7. Take the connector facing you and you will notice at left and right sides nearmost to the cable 2 securing teeth. open these. turn 180 degrees the whole thing with the connector facing oppose to you and you will see 3 little flat holes. insert the watch screwdriver and loose them. The covering plate should be out.
8. Take apart the connector off the covering plate, and you will notice some cables inserting to the pins. if you watch closely the 1 cable and the 3 cable are red and white coloured. these are your Right and Left speakers. Ground can be attached to the connectors outside.
9. Take about 10 cm of the 24 26 AWG single wire and take out about 5 mm of plastic cover revealing the wire. Insert one wire each with the red and the white in the din, secure the wire with some electrical tape around the black thick cable and the ground attach it to the outside metal plate.
10. Reassemble the 13 pin din connector. You should have 3 wires, right left and ground, simply get the rca to 3.5mm and attach the sides of the wires to the RCA, being the left and right the center part of the RCA and the outside metal round wall the ground.
11. Tape this connection and secure it again to the cable of the 13 to 20 din and you are finished. if you have a multimeter check for short circuits in the 3.5mm part checking right with left and each with ground for shortcircuits. if there is no short circuit you are good to go.

at this point your only concern will be to reassemble all again using the same steps backwards.

when you mount everything. put a cd in the CD changer and start playing it you should hear the cd playing without problems. Next, plug in an audio device such an ipod and play a song. you will hear 2 tracks being the ipod the most noticeable when you put the max volume, thats when we need the phantom CD.

To create a phantom cd, simply create a single track no sound CD of 80 minutes of duration. you will have 80 minutes worth of Ipod music before the cd changes, then you should play again the phantom cd over and over to continue listening to IPOD without any track interrupting.

One hint about that CD you could start sound recorder on windows with the mic muted, leave it there about 60 minutes or so, or take a 2 minute muted track and with mp3 software, paste over and over again to get the same result, then just burn the cd.

I have finished doing this work, so I will take some pictures when I have energies again. Im an Engineer and tried to do this the clean nice way using the connector in the CD Changer, but the b**ch wont let me do it.

I did it the dirty way. check mate!

I hope this works for you as it works for me.
