Thats' so interesting. I brought it up to my dealer and they said they couldn't do anything about it a couple times.

^^^ That must be why my 06 doesn't make the noise but my 04 did. I thought I was just lucky

RANT:

After telling the service person about this Technical Service Bulletin and asking him to take a look. They went and looked at the car, got back to me and said that they'd "try to resurface the rotors, since it's metal on metal, brakes will squeak and get dried up sometimes when you start the car".

Dude. Does this guy even remember what I told him about the friggin technical service bulletin???? I just faxed it to him and am waiting for him to call me back.

argh.

Um, our brakes aren't metal on metel, they're non-metallic pads.

So here's the deal. If your car is an 04 or an 05 RA with this squeal problem. Then they will honor the TSB and replace the rear pads if the car has less than 12k miles on it.

After inspecting my brakes, they said that there was nothing "technically wrong" with them in terms of thickness of brake pads, rotor warping, or anything of that nature. So they recommended that if the noise doesn't bother me too much, I should simply wait until the rear pads need to be replaced.

They meanwhile tried to sell me an injector cleaning service. Said that they recommended it because of carbon deposits they saw. I told them no thanks.

I'm gonna put some of that Chevron Techron stuff in my car before my next fill instead.

That's the "upsell" all service depts try to do- they make up something and tell you it's really necessary when it's blowing smole you know where

i have the same problem when i was going into reverse. found out that my rotor was not even, as i tightened the wheel down while it was on the ground. my mech told me this as he took the wheel off. readjusted everything and put it back together while it was in the air. doesnt sqeel going into reverse.

also had the problem of sqeeling on the brakes like crazy. i tried everything. told the mech at mitsu and he says theres not an aftermarket pad that he knows of that doesnt sqeel on the evo. he said the oem brembo pads are the best bet.

ive had personaly gone through. PMU, EBC and now am going to try the OEM brembo's and find out for sure.

Caliper Bolt

I had a similar probem with my 95 prelude I used to have. I changed the brake pads, and when I put the calipers back on, I must not have torqued one of the bolts enough causing the front mounting bolt to shake off. When going in reverse, the front of the caliper would rise and rub on the rim, going forward, it would settle back into the space it was suppose to go. It took me 2 weeks of trouble shooting to figure this out. I know this is an old thread, just putting in my $.02.

my 06 gets it like crazy in winter. when i first bought the car the struts and suspension popped all the time in the cold too.

I think these cars aren't built for the colder climates here.
