Help calculating appropriate wheel size/wheel recommendation

I'm performing an awd swap on my lancer with 4x114.3 hubs, which consequently will (most likely) require switching to 5x114.3 hubs.

Currently i'm running 205/50/16 on 16x7 Enkei RPF1's with a 43mm offset.

I can just barely get a pinky finger between the back of the wheel and the caliper on my Wilwood BBK, so this is definitely as close as it's going to get.

I like the RPF1's and might just buy them again, but this time a bit wider (and in 5x114.3) as I'm boosting the vehicle and the more tire the better. I think i could get away with 17x8 (or just stick with 16x8 for weight savings), but the only offset available is 33mm which might not cut it...

I really don't want these to rub and I can't risk having the wheel rest any closer to the front brake calipers.

I'm looking for some help in calculating the needed offset for an 8" wide wheel (whether it's 17" or 16") and appropriately sized tire.

I messed around with this tool a bit http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp and i think the best tire might be something like a 215/45/R17 but I can't say for sure - this is new to me.

found the Work XSA-02C wheels that come in a very wide range of offsets and they look nice, but are about double the price of RPF1's and probably heavier too. would be best to see if i can get this calculated proper in case a 30 to 35mm offset is actually feasible.

I measured and I have about 10mm of space between the wheel and my caliper. Picture:

I think im on to answering my own question but I suppose clarification doesn't hurt; neither does more information for others down the road...

Via http://www.customwheeloffset.com/tir...et-calculators i determined that a 17x8" RPF1 with an offset of 35mm will leave 6mm less space between the caliper and wheel, and extend about 21mm (which should have it sit almost exactly flush with my fenders).

I think the RPF1's will work out. I'm still going to have only 4mm now of space between my wheel and caliper - is that ok??

That amount of clearance is fine. I've seen OEM setups that look like they have less. And whats going to flex radially by 4 mm ( about 3/16")? Wheel rims, brake caliper brackets, big bolts, everything is very stiff. And track-hot calipers are not going to grow by 4mm.

thank you for the clarification.

all said and done i might just convert the rear flange/hub to a 4 lug and keep the wheels i have but it's nice knowing that this setup would work. i think my goal of around 300whp should work fine with the 16x7 wheels and 205/50/16 tires i have if all 4 wheels are powered.

if the awd swap and boost projects are a success and i feel i can safely up the boost a bit, i'll look at possibly going for a wider tire and converting to 5x114.3 down the road.
