first off thanks on the congrats everyone and info. as far as the SST i like it but its weird going from an manual to an auto. the sst picks up and accelerates pretty quick. but im not used to a car downshifting when i come to a stop. Im used to putting in in neutral then using the brakes to slow down. i guess i could do that with the sst but im not sure if putting it in neutral when cruising to a stop is safe on the tranny or not. looking forward to having a few more test runs with this car for more comparison with my old Evo

Just get an AMS intake, IC Piping, FMIC and a tune and you have your self an evo.
there are people on here running mid to high 13 s with just a tad bit over 1,000 in work on there cars and the EVOs are running mid 13's stock.
If you wanted a daily driver it was between the RA and the EVO MR 10,000 difference.
If you wanted a track car it should have been EVO GSR all the way.

Welcome!
Most of what I have read about the RA say that it is basically an Evo 9 under the body (suspension, etc.) with a slightly detuned Evo X motor. The major difference is the single scroll turbo, whereas the Evo has a twin scroll turbo (better gas milage). So I wouldn't really say that it's a downgrade.

AMS products is Great!
Welcome!
I also recommend doing something to protect the paint job. I ran out and bought the mud flaps first chance I got, after reading some of the posts about paint issues. I am also looking into getting a clear bra and having it installed. In the mean time I have also picked up a touch up paint pen for nicks and chips, just to be safe.
These are minor issues, but good to know stuff. Remember every car has it's little quirks. Thankfully there is a good community here and everyone is open to talking about their experiences. This allows us to be proactive in ensuring good longevity of our new cars. Remember take care of your car and it will take care of you!
