Exclamation Mixed Octane

So today I found a gas station that had 100 octane from Trick Racing Fuel. I mixed it in with 91 since you know in CA thats as high as it goes. I have to say it definitely made a drastic difference in the cars overall performance.

Huh! Did you have to disconnect the battery and get the ECU to re-learn?

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
That wont do anything.

To get the most out of the 100 oct, you must retune.

^That's what i would expect. The ECU doesn't keep advancing timing until knocks IIRC.

I 'thought' after a 'reset' it advances timing until it knocks (low octane) and doesn't keep trying to see if you got better fuel now and can run a higher octane... It 'learned' the max timing advance and 'maps' to that.

Am i wrong?

if the ecu senses knock it will stop advance.

if it sees additional knock counts it will actually retard the timing.

that does not "hold" if the car is turned off and re-started.

the car NOT will be running from then on with the timing curve that is retarded.

there is a maximum timing advance programmed in the ecu for WOT.

that can not be changed with out a "tune" as stated by others.

running the mixture and your overall experience would be very similar to the reaction people have taking placibos for pain.

It may be due to the crappy 91 you get not being up to standard, thus mixing with the 100 will feel smoother, but for most, who can get 93-94, they would notice no real difference.
