Sport Mode

This is just an inquiry with regards to how much people actually drive there RAs in 'Sport' mode.
The only time I really have was when I had a few cars try and race me, (I'm really surprised at the cars out there that a RA makes them look like fools) but other then that I drive it in normal.

I also inquire about this, because lately I've been reading about people having issues with there transmissions and due to the high revving in sport mode I stay out of it.

TIA

I drive in Sport-Manual. Since I control the shifting, the RPM can go as high as I want. Also, I remember reading that driving in sport-manual doesn't wear the clutches out as fast.

sport manual for me 99.9% of the time... normal mode is way too slow and slippy on full throttle upshifts. Top 2 reasons i got a Ralliart Sportback were cargo capacity and the sst (which was ment to be driven in manual mode if you ask me).

It is nice to have the option of auto mode but I can't for the life of me figure out why there is a sport auto mode when you've got those two perty magnesium paddles right at your fingertips and a bumper stick where the gates would be be on a manual.

I too drive mostly in sport manual mode, but I disagree with you that sport auto mode is overkill. I think sport auto is great when you just want to floor it without having to watch your RPM's to make sure you're not bouncing off the rev limiter. That way, I keep both eyes on the road, both hands on the wheel, and the car shifts at the perfect time for maximum power and acceleration.

I use sport manual most if the time as well. Sport auto works great if you just want to gun it and not worry about watching the shift points.

So what's the difference in normal manual and sport manual? Sorry about the dumb question, but I tried both and can't really notice the difference

As far as I can tell, driving in normal will make the clutches slip more, so the shifts will be smoother. In sport, the clutches grab harder, so there is less slippage (and wear). I think if you drive in Sport-Manual long enough, that WILL become your "normal".

Sport mode just clamps the clutch plates harder = more pressure = running the hydraulic pump harder.

Agree except that sport auto keeps the revs too high if your not beating on it... tooling around town in sport auto is way too "buzzy" for me and you still have to reach down to select sport mode while your driving. Hence why I say I don't see the point.

If we had access to maps that would allow up to taylor the two auto modes more to our individual liking it would be a whole other story though....

Mad that makes perfect sense to me too. No sense in driving around town with the engine rev'ed high all the time. Seems like over kill and would be kind of annoying after a while. I notice a big difference in normal manual and sport manual. After you drive in sport manual and then switch to normal manual you will see there is a bigger delay in the shift time.

What annoys me is sport mode has to be set every time you start the car (does not remember last setting), and you cannot use cruise control on the highway in sport mode. These two things plus my laziness ends up with me driving it in normal mode for most shorter in-town and long highway trips.

that is very frustrating that you can't use cruise in auto mode!!

the only time i ever drive in normal is when on cruise for long trips, otherwise sport - manual, unless im going for a fang in the hills, then auto gets the green light
