Vibration from front of the car

Hey hey,

So my wife is away and i didn't want her car to sit there for 2 weeks without driving it, so i left my STi at home and took out her car today..

i noticed at various speeds and RPM's that there was a rattle/vibration..

she just got her car serviced and tires rotated so i assumed a bolt was loose. i went out and tried tightening them but all were good..

but that's what the vibration felt like.. i can feel it through the gas pedal and steering wheel..

it doesn't sound metal or plastic so it's not that type of rattle..

On her list of recommendations it does say 4 wheel alignment.. so i';m wondering if that's what it is.. but i drove it last week and it was fine..

any one have any ideas?

Is it coming from a particular side? If it is check the tie rod end. They may need to be replaced.

it doesn't seem to be coming from a particular side.. it's hard to isolate where it's coming from ; <

You would think they would've caught it but you never know. Does it get louder if you turn the wheel either direction? I had to replace my axle bc the cv joint was bad and it would get louder if I turned to the right and quiet down if I turned to the left. I wouldn't say wheel bearing if its at random speeds and rpms bc it should just be constant and get louder the faster you go. I don't know those are just things I would check. See if any of the boots on the axles have tears in them and jack the car up and see if you can wiggle the wheel at all

Nah- only wheel balance.

Less noticable when on the rears then moved to the front become quite noticable.

its definitly your balance, if u feel it in ur steering wheel its most like a front wheel, if u feel it in the pedal or seat then its probably a back wheel. just get them checked

rotate front to back and see if that helps - if so - there you are! Balance.

Same thing happened to me when I rotated my wheels the other day. I'm getting my fronts (formerly rears) rebalanced today. What speeds are the vibrations noticable at?

Rebalancing your front wheels should fix the problem. You/your wife may have hit a pothole or something with one of the rear wheels and thrown the balance off at some point. It'd go unnoticed until you rotated the wheels forward, and your steering wheel starts to go nuts .

Mine did the same thing, had them rebalanced, both rear wheels (now fronts) were out by 0.75oz. Still vibrates a bit, but much less noticable than before.
