This could have been posted before but I don't have the time to search. Hit a big pothole just now, right front tire went down. Wheel looks ok so I'll be happy if it just needs remounted. But what I'm worried about is a message coming up saying 4WD service required. The car on there shows the wheels pointed to the right. Does that mean I need an alignment or is there something more wrong?
That notice usually comes on when the spare is on. It's because of a host of different factors, tire width and tire traction being the biggest. It just got confused with the smaller, thinner, tire with less traction. Unless there's something else wrong, it should go away once the regular wheel/tire is on.
If it's still on after the pothole tire goes back on the car, you might have to take it in to have the sensors re-calibrated or the code reset. It should just go away though.

My experience is that you have to replace a minimum of 2 tires as long as you stay with the exact same size. The exception to this would be if the remaining 2 tires are badly worn, then you would want to replace all 4 in the case of a failure/blowout on 1.
That is what I did, I bought 2 new tires. We put them both on the back and you need to keep them together I believe right? (Like both on front or both on back)
Did you do 2 new tires or 4? after you made friends with the pothole...
Funny, the same day I posted in this thread I hit a chunk of concrete that blended in with the road...popped a tire. Put the donut on, and the usual warnings popped up. But, I only replaced that tire, not two. It seems to be driving fine, no whining from the rear diff like it did when the donut was on. The dealer got as close to stock tire as possible, since the Eagle GT is no longer made (found that out from the local Goodyear shop).
Honestly, I took a chance and just replaced the one damaged tire with the exact same make/model/size. I had just put 4 brand new tires on in December and this happened in January--so literally only a month of drive time before the incident. If the tires had been more worn, I might have done all 4 depending on the situation.
