I just finished a new fmic with upper and lower pipes. In the very front of the engine bay there is a plastic cover that sits on top of the upper pipe. Is this trim piece needed? Is there any harm in me not installing it back in? I like the looks of the huge fmic and piping more than the cheap black plastic.

 

It's pretty much used as far as I know to funnel air into the intake scoop
