Rattling

I just bought a 2011 lancer ralliart, car is stock except for BOV. I notice that once the car is warmed up that there is a slight rattling sound that comes from the engine bay. I know the description is vague, and i will post a video when i have a chance, but it only does it at full operating temp and only in park/neutral. It goes away once in gear. I was wondering if any of you guys have had a similar problem. I am going to take it to the dealer once i have time as i am under warranty, just wanted to maybe see if anyone else has had this happen. It basically sounds as if someone put a pebble in the engine/trans or front diff and it knocks around a bit. TIA.

Not sure about the engine bay but my car rattles everywhere (mostly from the dash).

I'd say get the dealer to check it out but mostly get used to it cause it's going to keep happening.

That rattle in park/neutral is normal. All the tc-sst transmissions do it. It has something to do with design. You'll notice all kinds of rattles, whines, clunks, and thunks -its all normal.

Yeah mine has a noise in park also. If i get out and listen by the front of the car it sounds like a rock rolling around, just not very loud. Seems to do it more when the car is first started. Hard to describe but its there... :P

It's normal; don't bother going to the dealer.

Everything rattles in this car... that's the price you pay (or didn't)...

Mine it's the other way around. I have a 2005 RA. It rattles when I'm in D and sit at the light. If I put it in N the rattling stops. It sounds that is coming from somewhere in the dash around the glove compartment. I took everything apart to see where it's coming from, if anything is loose but with no success so I just gave up.

Thats weird... my 09 GTS doesnt rattle whatsoever.

I don't think the gts models rattle like the ralliarts. Mine clunks and it pisses me off!

Wait till you get a Ralliart. It'll make a Kia sound like a bank vault.

Yeah mine rattles too... but nothing like the sounds it was making this morning. It doesn't like the extreme cold. Started the car this am, it was -25, -40C with the wind chill. That's -13/-40F for you US types. :)

Got a high-pitched screeching noise from either the alternator or the power steering pump, the normal TC-SST clunk, and a tick from the valvetrain. I can only imagine what the oil/tc-sst fluid looked like... prolly like peanut butter. These sounds (except the tc-sst clunk) went away in 30secs.

so does mine lol so its normal then if all are ra's do it silly ........its normal ...i just have a intake and a tune done but dont worry about it its fine ..and the clunk is normal to thats the love a sst trans gotta looooove those mitsubishis

In park, stopped with brakes on or neutral it will do that because the clutch packs are disengaged and rattle around.

Perfectly normal

If you guys are hearing all these rattles, whines, screeches, ticks, clicks, thunks, and clunks, it's cause your radio isn't turned up loud enough!! Crank up some good tunes and you won't hear a darn thing!!:D
