If MR SST tranny fits and works in RA...
Does that mean that possibly the GSR's 5 speed will bolt on as well? hmmm...
|
it probably will, but i'm sure the ECU would need a reflash to bring it more in line w/ EvoX GSR ECU programming, because there are some slight differences between the GSR and MR ECU maps...
|
It would just be easier, and cheaper to buy a GSR.
|
depends on why you "need" the transmission, where you obtain the transmission, and how you install the transmission...
If you're getting a new transmission, and paying Mitsu or a transmission shop to install it, then yeah, it'd probably be cheaper and easier to get a GSR... |
Its going to be a whole lot more than "slight differences".
|
Assuming the bolt pattern on the bell housing is the same and that the center diff will bolt up to a non SST transmission. You can buy one new for ~$3000.
Don't forget you need the third pedal, shift linkage, clutch master and slave, new lines, the shifter itself, interior trim pieces, and a lot of time. |
The work involved seems almost ridiculous vs buying a gsr.
|
From my understanding in talking with Works, there is alot more involved then just bolting it on and adding the third pedal (Pounding out some room to fit it, etc.).
|
|
the reason why im wondering is one of those "what if my SST blows up and i don't want to fork out 8k for a new one?"

Assuming the bolt pattern on the bell housing is the same .. Don't forget to add flywheel to your list of needed parts. |

'why is it so hard'?
The 'base' lancer came with a manual. Use that tranny! Are the lancer's not turbo-ing and finding out the limits of their tranny? Any beef up mods or upgraded clutches required? Go ask them. Why can't you use their ECU if required? It may be easier than you think. The turbo lancers are doing it somehow... Remember - we are a turbo lancer (not a detuned EVO as they are wont to keep telling us ;) ) Find a junked lancer and sell your existing tranny for $2500 now - which buys the lancer... Which you sell for parts when done stripping it to set yours up... You may only need a EVO shaft from a GSR... Well? Why not? |

Their ECU does not have the programming to manage the turbo... Do you want any other reason? |
YES It will work on the RA but need the full set.. Like the tcu and such... Plus need to tune the car... And need $$$$. It is possible..
