Vehicle Battery is Dead, Mechanical Key Won't Work. Why?!
ALREADY GOT INTO MY CAR!! Before I start tearing apart my door looking for something broken just wanna pick yalls brains
I have a 2010 Lancer Ralliart Sportback and the battery die yesterday, like, DEAD dead (I'm assuming, haven't actually tested anything yet). I discovered this because I couldn't unlock my door with my key fob while going to lunch. Thought no problem, popped the Mechanical Key out the back, stuck it in and turned. Door didn't unlock, tried a few more times in either direction, watched a video to make sure it was turning far enough, looked for other holes. Long story short, SOL I chose to get a wedge and air bag and pop the lock that way, over trying to get the grille off and popping the hood that way. I recommend this to pretty much anyone in my shoes (pay a pro if your not comfortable yourself). Reason being, you never know why your door isn't unlocking properly. No power is the obvious reason number, but the WHY it has no power doesn't necessarily have to be with the battery. Just my recommendation, makes it easier to start diagnosing if the battery is good. So my questions are: 1. Have any of you had this exact situation? 2. How did you get your door open if yes to "1"? (Just curious) 3. Is something Broken/disconnected in my lock mechanism? Or are we just dealing with a really bad design? Thanks for reading! And replying if you do! |
i think i would have tried to put the jumper cable on the starter or alternator. it would work right? :)
