im not a fan of spending big bucks on tires; i've always found that moderately priced rubber meet my needs pretty well bc ive never really been one to drive my car THAT hard. any good, cheap reccomendations for replacing the stockers once theyre shot?

Nexen N3000 or N5000 are low priced tires from Korea but received very good reviews....I have Kumho ASX on my tiburon but the Toyo Proxes 4's that I had before were better traction wise....

I have'nt seen alot of options in the size though, w/ 225/40-18, you find more variety.

My advans lasted from april to december before they were to worn out to drive on, maybe about 10-15k miles on them. I dont track the car or anything hard and its my daily driver so i needed more miles out of the tires. Went with the Falken azenis st115 and about to hit 40k miles on the car with 1.6yrs on the tires. Not bad only thing is dont drive on water with them almost learned that the hard way. Summer tracking in az is good, perhaps this next time i get something similiar.

I replaced my stock yoko's at 5k miles lol. Just because I wanted to.
I went with Sumitomo HTZ III 225, great tires for the price, great reviews, I have not yet had one prob with em, great tires for me.

Falken Azenis RT-615. I loved'em. I thought they were great for the price. But, I am ready for another set. Now considering Dunlop Z1Star Specs.

I ordered:

Pirelli Pzero's (235/40/18) about a week ago.

Also a set of Enkei G5's to go with it.

Should be here pretty soon.

Well, all I can say is if you put Falken 452s on you'll regret it. I was looking for a cheap replacement as well and hated every minute of that bad decision. Cheap rubber is fine on a "normal" car. But on the Evo, if you put cheap rubber, it makes a world of diff. It makes a car that is made for cornering feel like a SRT-4 hahahaha!

Stock wheels are not 18x8

225/40/18 are made for 18x8 but will fit the stock 18 x 7

i have a set of the ecsta asx's coming in tomorrow, ill let u know what i think. going on my second set of wheels for something that will last a lil longer than my star specs.
i have the star specs on the car now, bought them for autox, absolutely love them. not too pricey and are an all around GREAT summer time. work well in the rain, work great in the dry.
i had a set of hankook ventus evos on my old gts and they worked great in the summer, but sucked horribly in snow.
for DD i would say go with the kuhmos, IMO

I'm not sure how different the X RA is, but I got BFG g-Force T/A KDW for my IX MR and while they might be louder than the stockers, and not quite as solid when cornering, the rubber lasts long and they are okay in the rain (no worse than my stockers). I have NT05s waiting to go on next and I have heard good things about the Z1s.
