Yup.

I sent some pictures to Steve of the front pads from the Ralliart and the front pads of a 2nd Gen Eclipse that should confirm it for everyone that they are the same. These pads have been tested on the track, we installed them in our Ralliart for the BFGoodrich KDW Challenge.

I thought the brakes for the Ralliart were direct OEM brakes from the Outlander, did I miss something

The story doesn't get much better in the braking test, either. The Ralliart, with its two-piston front calipers borrowed from the Outlander SUV, covered 128 feet stopping from 60 mph, whereas the GTS only required 118 feet. The Evo? 112 feet. Tires make a difference, don't they?

The 2009 Lancer Ralliart not only tames curves, but does so with the confident stopping power of the same brakes as the larger, heavier Outlander SUV

Shouldn't these be the exact same brakes, discs, pads, etc.

I think most of the marketing materials went out with misinformation, and Edmunds isn't the type of reviewer who is going to rip the car apart just to verify that type of information. Works, however, would.

pot.kettle.black...

there has been testing done here in australia with aftermarket pads and rotors, but still the brakes are woefully underdone. to quote the tuner 'The car 100% needs bigger calipers and rotors, we have already (well) exceeded the EVO X power and to have a car with this grunt and the OEM (size) brakes is downright scary!'

but anyway...

I would say that it is not so much the power as it is the weight of the vehicle. Stopping a 3,500 lb vehicle can't be easy.

Bigger rotors and calipers won't help if they were doing a single stop, the main contributor to a single, hard stop is tires.

even when someone is using it as a street application, are you only expecting them to stop only once? the tires are a joke, i agree - was the first thing i changed but still need to up the brake department so will either go a evo x brembos or with an aftermarket setup eg ap etc. with my old subie and also my toyota chaser, they benefited greatly from a pad and rotor change, as they had decent calipers and rotor size, but with the ralliart, we were blessed (or damned) with the povo spec brakes

not cheap, yes, but at highway speeds (which i do very often for work) extra coin on braking is well worth it for both safety and peace of mind

If someone is driving on the streets, they should only be doing one high speed braking application within a short time frame. In this situation, heat is not an issue. This is why race cars have gigantic brakes. Larger brakes are better capable of dissipating heat which allows them to be subjected to hard braking over and over again. You can put 15" rotors on a Ralliart but it won't make it stop any better (assuming you hold all other variables constant).
The reason why you noticed a difference was the pads.
