General Wheel Fitment Info...

Hub Rings
Make sure you get hub rings for all aftermarket wheels don't want any weird noise, vibration or shaking...
make sure the wheel can fit oem tire pressure sensor ... for some reason not all aftermarket wheel fit it...

stay away from fake and cheap aftermarket light aluminum lugs... i have seen and have had lugs break off on a track day... if 2lbs matter to you get some reputable brands like work wheels and ray wheels that the ones i buy...

Rear space
Make sure it is hub centric... don't want any weird noise, vibration or shaking in the back!!!

TPMS

From TireRack

Thanks for the pm. I do show new sensors require a visit to the dealer for initialization. Haven't heard rotating causes an issue, but any new sensor needs to be programmed into the computer via a dealer visit. Typically its a 30 min labor charge.

Neal

If anyone else can give me more info on what they have or tried that will be great!!! TOGETHER we can make this the 2009 LANCER RALLIART WHEEL AND TIRES FITMENT THREAD

Nice tread!! Should make it a sticky for everyone else to look at!!

CaSilvia Apr 14, 2009 06:01 PM

I have spoken to a few people that say the issue with RA fitement is the rear, because of the AWD there is barely any room for anything <+38 for the rear.

The same people say you can't fit EVO X wheel on the RA because of this same issue. However the EVO X wheel are 18x8.5 if i remember correctly. So 18x8 +35 Should fit very well leaving the option for a few spacers to flush everything up if you like. Like communism this is all fine in dandy in theory as i have not tried this personally

evocowboy Apr 14, 2009 06:02 PM

just tried out my old evo VIII Enkei's w/ 245/40-17 Hoosier A6. Fit was flawless, & the wider track looked sick!!! few things I notice, when you hold them close together, the overall aspect ratio looks about the same, & the evo wheels were lighter then these hideous GTS wheels. I'm gonna swap these in on auto-X days, once I burn the hoosiers out, I may convert these to my daily wheels If the tpms will swap in.

For 18x8 +35 will = front will poke out about 1/4"+ and the rears will be flushed
Inner Clearance: 2mm LESS Outer Face Position: 24mm MORE
Tires:
225/45 18 if lower to prevent rubbing and cutting of the wheel on the fender
235/40 18 will rub a little on the fenders with my calculation on bumps, dips, and pot holes and maybe driveways too

Now with that EVO X wheels if there OFFSET is the stock +46 or even between +46 to +48 it will fit perfect with no problems... now does anyone know the stock OFFSET for a EVO X?? :lol: maybe wanna drop some EVO X wheels just for fun!{thumbup}

havock28 Apr 15, 2009 07:35 AM

how about stock rims what is the widest tire we can rock on them?? id like to get a bit wider tread on my stock rims..

evil03 Apr 15, 2009 11:36 AM

On 18x7 the max wider tire is 225 without rubbing

225/45 18 this will give you a 1/2" wider tread but its gonna be more round and it will look like an elephant feet ( the tire will be bigger then the width of the wheel by 1/4"+ depend on brand) which is not good for AWD there MORE sidewall flex!

OR

225/40 18 this will give you only about 1/2" wider tread but its gonna be more round and it will look like an elephant feet ( the tire will be bigger then the width of the wheel by 1/4"+ depend on brand) which is not good for AWD there LESS sidewall flex because of the lower profile!

what you really want is to have the most minimum sidewall flex... its a rally car its build to go around corners... not drag racing... if you look at top fuel drag cars they have monster sidewall flex when they launch the rear tires buckle to keep traction on take off....

so if you want a wider tread then get wider wheels like 8.5 to run 235/40 18 that will give you about 3/4" wider tread... and keep the sidewall flex down!

to much sidewall flex = spin out on auto x trace at a fast turn....{thumbdwn}

less sidewall flex = all rubber traction to keep all 4 wheels down {thumbup}

What wheel fitment you are using?

Sportback Apr 16, 2009 09:19 PM

For those interested, I have some info for the 2010 RA Sportback on wheel/tire fitments. Looks like the Sportback will be rolling on 18 x 7.5 cast alloy wheels with 215/45/R18 Yokohama ADVAN asymmetrical summer performance tires.

Moving to a 225/45/R18 will be an easy transition for those wanting to run 18 x 8 aftermarket rims, and then 235/40/R18 for those who want a more aggressive set up for 18 x 8 rims. Going to an 18 x 8.5 set up just does not seem needed at all for this car......18 x 8 is perfect imo with just enough extra grip to get the job done (of course a brake upgrade does seem a priority with the RA's.....the RA's stopping distance is not as needed for all the performance). :)

True

I know the wrx265 does absolutely fine with those dunlop 45/225's, in fact its currently what is getting the subaru better marks then the ralliart off the lot imho. Do you think the 40 side wall would really make a difference over the 45 over looks? Hmm

Though I going over board on the stock rim is to much, just better rubber saves this car.

evil03 Apr 18, 2009 11:39 AM

you guys crack me up!!!! its in the owners manuals near the back of the book... and if it was 7.5 mitsu wont have ran 215/45-18 tires it would have came with 225/45-18

215 tires are meant for 6" to 7" wide wheels
225 tires are meant for 7" to 8" wide wheels
235 tires are meant for 8" to 9" wide wheels

these are just rule of thumb...

but always you can stretch fit or over size a fitment

keeping it with in spec keeps the side wall flex down and keep traction squared...

I have 18X8 +40mm offset w/ 235/40/18 tires. Went to my mechanic and he said I need spacers does anyone know if this will cause any rubbing issues with the spacer.

Also does any one know what size I need for spacers?
