Should leave to dry for at least 20min. I have not had that problem on any of my other cars with k&n

After swapping, I noticed the following things:

1. Acceleration seems to be more responsive.
2. The TC-SST isn't as notchy in 1st - 3rd gears at speeds less than 25 MPH.
3. Engine noise is significantly reduced. Which I expected anyway.
4. Fuel economy has lowered slightly.

Overall, the car actually "feels" better than it did by switching back to the OEM airbox using the K&N panel filter versus how it "felt" using the custom SRI.

Am I going crazy or is something like this expected?

I also wonder if my conical air filter choice has something to do with these results as well. Maybe the AEM dryflow is more restrictive than a K&N filter of the same type.

Any thoughts?
Part placebo, part actual

I went through like 6 different intakes on a previous turbocharged car (from aftermarket, to homegrown to a modded stock box) and after each change I'd swear it was better than the last, even if I went back to a previous one.

Generally speaking, hot air intakes stink in traffic (the throttle response with a hot intake is softer than stock) but the tradeoff was better response and power in all other situations. If you go with a hot air intake on a turbocharged car but don't want to hear your turbo and bpv, you made the wrong choice

Still, I love hearing the turbo and the bpv so the tradeoffs are worth it to me but YMMV

I will never understand the motivation behind paying to upgrade one's stock airbox. The UR SRI isn't that expensive. Some of the drop-in filters are only a couple of dollars shy of the UR unit. I have a feeling that some of the old TTP posts about conical filters have made some of you shy away from them, altogether.

Cosworth or a genuine Ralliart filter are alternatives to the K&N filter. These others don't use oil to "recharge" them.

was any scaling of the maf done?

we found when we were testing or intake that the driveability improved greatly over the stock airbox.
