yeah I've been using 2010 roms on 2009s for ages now.
Rich thinks the 2010 rom (for ADM cars anyway) is better coded... seems to shift better. that's why i made the change.
But yes I've put 2010 roms on probably 7 or 8 2009 cars with no ill effects, so you should feel very safe to do it IMO!
to the guys asking about usb etc...
just dump the cff file on your hard drive. i put mine in c/:MUT3. easy.
and yes all you guys with the "update" files etc - you have the entire MUT3 software suite in your hands, to install on any laptop you choose.
you will get an "ecu database error", so did i. it put me off for months. just ignore it, let it do it's thing.....
basically any laptop will work - you just need the VCI device. that's what you pay for when you buy a MUT3, really. and that VCI must have updated firmware on it, which the MUT3 program will do when you have it all hooked up.

No. VCI IS the MUT III handheld tool. There is much more to it than "a usb to obd2 cable."
Ignore this next part, it's not directed towards any one person, i just gotta rant....
I'm starting to understand why some people get so annoyed around here. The amount of assumptions and misinformation people throw out as fact is astounding. If you aren't sure, please put "I think" or something along those lines instead of spouting bs as fact.

correct.
not the cff file. I mean the almost 800mb download which is probably a ripped cd Rom. one part is an update for existing mut3 (medic) software. the rest if you look can actually install a fresh, and completely up to date, mut3 software onto your laptop.
but its fairly useless with out the VCI of course!

Hopefully we can achieve this in the future getting s-sport and lc flash without mut iii. I think we all need to request this to hopefully see a tcu flash.

I'm more than willing to pay $100 for this update for tactrix. This is how much I'd pay the dealership for using their mut3 anyways. Atleast, I can do it at home and no hustle for convincing the dealership to do this procedure.
