I think you're overreacting a bit. Are you suggesting that they are just supposed to absorb the costs of purchasing the MUT and corresponding software, as well as their time spent getting this to happen and installing it onto the vehicle? Even with the very few dealerships that are allowing people to perform or have this procedure performed with their equipment, most (all that I've heard of, except for those with employee-friends) are charging for the service, as well, so what's the big deal?

Yes, I very obviously have some connection with Boostin, because Devin is my tuner, but I promise you that is not why I am bothering to type this. I can assure you they are NOT the only shop doing this, nor will they be the last to openly advertise their capability, and I don't think ANY shop should be criticized for making the most of a situation and providing a valuable service at a fraction of the cost of someone having to do it themselves.

To me, it's like criticizing Tactrix for selling cables/adapters to people who want to use Bryan's/Rich's free basemaps, or criticizing any shop that charges for a basemap-flash (AMS Stage0 comes to mind). If you don't like paying for the equipment, the knowledge, the experience, and the time; find someone else who is willing help you do it for free or move on.

^^Wheres the like button!! Honestly, for the benefit of S-sport and launch control the cost is not bad at all. Ive been waiting a long time to get this flash and Im super pumped my tuner (Boostin) now offers it!

I did saying paying for the labour was fine. I should be like Golden and ask for royalties when people use my instructions.

I just hope everyone is getting a good deal.

Of course if you want service provided then you should pay for the service. It's just some places are charging ridiculous prices for a 10 min job. Also not to mention crak was the one who spent his time and effort risking his transmission to provide the info free of charge. It just disgust me some places using his guide charging ridiculous prices and don't give him credit . They should be paying him to use his instructions. Having said that there are places that charges fair price of coz for the cost of purchasing the tools and labour which is fair dinkum. Mitsubishi dealer wanted to charge me I think was $130 for 1 hr use for their mutiii. So look around anything more than $150 to flash would be robbery

Agree.
I think the few Aussie places/people that do this charge around $150 for it? It sounds like many US places are similar.

You must remember though, every shop or person doing this reflashing had to purchase a MUT3 at some point and they are not cheap!
I use mine for diagnostics mainly, but if I got one simply for reflashing Ralliarts then I would be doing quite a few cars to break even.

On the rev bounce thing - I have been playing around a bit and managed to reduce it somewhat on some problematic cars. but I certainly can't make it go away. I wonder if anyone else has had any luck??
What is it with you RA owners cruising all the time at 1800rpm anyways! I cruise between 2000-2500 most of the time.

Well, i was given a rumor that the new definitions for the 2009 and 2010 ralliarts remove the rev hunting. I haven't tested this yet, but i think its bogus because its just definitions and not an actual flash. beats me. Maybe give it a shot Beeble?

there's "new" definitions?
on their own they won't do jack. unless they point to new tables that can directly fix the issue.

linky??

There's just 4 new updates to the old definitions from a year ago. I used notepad++ to compare and contrast the old and new definitions.

Good luck bud!

Has anyone with a 2013 tried the tcu flash out?

If so, what were the results? (no rev hunting I would hope)

Crapppp...

Some mut3/s only have one usb port and that is what connects to VCI, had to haul butt back to another town and hit office depot to burn a cd from my usb memory stick, drive back to said town and, of course the mut 3 NOW would not read the cd because the file got corrupted in e-mailing or burning...

Gotta re-download the file and but another cd, and try again in a few weeks!!

SH*TTTTT!!!

NOW i CAN'T GET THE FILE TO download from the first page...Long day!!

I burned the file onto a CD-R disc, should I use a DVD-R or cd-rw or????????Did I do something wrong here????????

Put file in folder on cd

Also make sure you put the file inside of a folder on the cd. If you do not the software does not show you what is on the root of the cd and you have to press a button to get it to show up. The mut3 is expecting it in a folder so to Mae everyone's life easier put it in a folder

The mutt saw the cff file, without it being in a folder and i did use a CD-R disc, so it was just bad luck and a corruption issue from either e_mailing or burning from flash drive to cd... 3 hours and 120 miles driven, wasted... Aaaargh... Try again in a few weeks!!

Thank ya for the tips n will advise later!!!
