Re-tune needed for different intake?

A buddy of mine has an X turbo swap, and is running the AMS half battery with their intake. We're looking into getting the RRE adapter for the RA intake so he can go back to running a full battery, but he's worried about needing to shell out another $500 to re-tune it to account for the intake.

Can anybody shed some light on whether or not this is necessary? I know it's always best-practice, but will the change be that drastic from one aftermarket intake to the next?

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Its possible it may need maf re scaling for the different intake.
I doubt it will cause a huge affect on tune. Maybe slight fuel trim change.

Just keep an eye on afr during wot after new install
