This won't happen for a while but, it'd be nice to start checking...

Eventually I would like to install an aftermarket turbo and intercooler and I'm not sure what I really need.
This is what I had in mind...
FP Red Turbo
http://store.forcedperformance.net/m...e=Lancer-Turbo

ETS Intercooler Kit 4"
http://www.extremeturbosystems.com/M...duct_info.html

I was curious if there was anything else I needed to run that turbo, maybe an aftermarket BOV? And I heard something about needing an aftermarket or EvoX Intake Manifold, and I don't even know what an intake manifold is lol:lol:. Tune required?
All help would be substantially appreciated, this is alot of money, wanna make sure I'm doin it right lol

Thanks!

tune, and full turbo back for sure.

im not sure what the consensus on injectors is.

at anyrate, the fp red is silly imo, too much power for the tranny. The x turbo makes 300/300 and wont keep you in the shop.

You will need a manni fold and a diffrent blow off would be a good idea. The ecu will most def need a tune for it to run proper cuz if not it will be throwing CEls.

I just know that AMS installed it and said it worked fine and I just imagine the more power the better but, once again, I'm new to all this.

Lol if you don't mind me asking, what's a CEl?:helpme:

The power that the FP Red made eventually wore out the clutches in our SST. 300/300 on a stock X turbo was very nice, it would spool like stock and run mid to low 12s with stock catback and no weight reduction whatsoever.

Oh wow really? So maybe just the EvoX Turbo then? Does that mean I'll never be able to get more power than that without wearing the clutches?

More power is better if all you care about is a number on a piece of paper. Are you drag racing, autocrossing, track racing, daily driving or a combination of the above? In some instances, response is far more important than peak HP. If you seriously have to ask what an intake manifold is, I would strongly suggest you stop looking at what parts to buy and do a whole lot of reading on this forum and any others you frequent.

Well as of now just drag racing and daily driver because I can't find any tracks right now. And I realize I don't know alot about cars and that's why I'm not gonna buy it now, all I do is read around here and I want to know as much as possible because I love cars and I'd like to have a career with it. So I guess that's why I posted this thread... For help lol

For those two, the Evo X turbo is probably the best compromise, spools fast and can make enough power to effectively max out the transmission. I would suggest reading more in the various threads on Evom that relate to this topic, there's no point in simply having people repeat it over and over again.

Yeah I think there is a thread named "what does it take to make 300/300" or something like that. I think you'll find your answers there.
I'm probably go down that line of getting the evo x turbo when I have enough money{thumbup}

Alright thanks then.

Cel. Check engine light.

Oh ok, lol thanks

your welcome man

i was originally planning the fp red as well, but after more investigations both in australia and on here, it's just not going to stack up. with the evo x turbs, it's the perfect choice - nice power without sacrificing drivability and more importantly won't cause the transmission an early death
