What's that smell??

Ever since I owned the car I will get this burning smell when I drive the car for a while and I can smell it when I'm waiting at a dead stop any ideas what it is my car now has 1,432 miles

Exhaust smell probably?

andrewRA May 2, 2010 10:19 PM

Will it go away after a while

I have that same thing going on. For awhile, I thought that it was burnt rubber from my absolute garbage stock tires, but it has persisted since I changed my tires to quality Bridgestones. It definitely is coming from the exhaust, and I believe it to be normal. The bad news is that I have almost 10,000 miles on the car, and the smell is just as bad as it was the first time I smelled it. The good news is that nothing is wrong, although I have a hunch that that smell may get worse if I ever do decide to change things up in the exhaust department, as I have heard others complain about the exact same thing.

Well at least I'm not crazy thinking I was the only one with this problem

I used to get it all the time when I first got the car. I've had it for 7 months or so and the smell is gone as far as I can tell. =)

I fixed the smell with my test pipe.

I had this too, especially if I was running the fan and not a/c. I am pretty sure its just the smell of the turbo heating up

I've had the smell too.

Smells kinda like burnt clutch. I blame it on the turbo.

God knows, 17000 miles, no problems yet though most of my miles are split between 75% highway and 25% aggressive driving, almost all weekends.

Had you used the "Search" button, you would already know that. I'm just saying...
