Evo X oil cooler installation Q's
 

So I hope I'm not bringing up a two year old thread, I know you evom veterans get pissed about that, but I've searched A LOT of threads looking for specific information about installing the Evo X oil cooler on the Ralliart. I know this was covered vaguely on the ssevojr 2 tranny cooler thread..

1. Question is, will the evo x oil cooler hook right up without any extra parts needed?

2. Is the RA oil pump the same as the Evo X, or do I need to upgrade a pump to accommodate the new added volume??
I know there is the brass colored thermostate that sits between the feed and return lines.. I have ordered this already,

Will I have any problems just installing this cooler and adding more oil??

You will need to have a shop make you a bracket, as there currently is not one available (Rich is working on this via the EDM Ralliart)
Other than that, you are good to go (oh and remove/replace/destroy the windshield fluid aqueduct)

Dude I totally agree about the windshield fluid aqueduct!!! Maybe just cut that thing in half!!

Second what is the Rich EDM Ralliart?? is someone making a template for the brackets??

EDM Ralliart is European Ralliart. Some European models came with an engine oil cooler, right from the factory. It was small, fitted in front of the washer reservoir... but it could be a useful source of parts for us. I'm trying to get part numbers out of a UK Ralliart dealer.

The cooler itself is apparently not much good. Not surprising, given its size and location. But the oil lines, brackets and so on could come in very handy for fitting an aftermarket unit.

Exactly, if we could just get all the "accessories" then any Setrab/etc. will work easily. Mostly its all the little parts that connect to the oil filter housing and possibly the bracket. The lines and cooler would be easy to find :)

Well I did end up buying a used oil cooler and lines off of someone here.. Not home at the moment, but when I get home I will install it, and let you know how is goes.. I know after the fact that I could have went aftermarket, but heck something is better than nothing.. I just wanted a bit more cooling power because Im installing the MAP ef2.. Want me to take pics?

And of the EF2 (I REALLY like that one so far)

instead of putting the cooler in the stock position, how about in the grill (near the headlights)?

I been looking around,researching cross-referencing parts etc. for a while. Been wanting to pull the trigger on this for a while but soon enough. I do believe a evo 8/9 oil cooler set up could work..don't about the cooler lines being long enough or exact measurements.Would be a much cheaper option then trying to obtain the oem evo x set-up. For example..just a rough idea so bare with me

Heres a pic not the best pic but shows where this cooler could be mounted. This on my ralliart also note no wash fluid res. Clearance of the eyebolts of the cooler lines may be a issue in this location. May have to space out this bracket some how.

Their is a vendor on here selling used evo8/9 oil coolers for $50 or ebay they go for $100-130 w/brackets and lines. Just a idea;)

I'm going to contact a buddy that has a evo 8 and next couple of days off (tuesday and wednesday) try to get some measurements and see if this bracket could work in this location or possibly a different location.

so what are you doing exactly just adding a secondary oil cooler on the passenger side along with the stock one or are you replacing the stock one?

We don't have a stock one, so this is a primary cooler.
I just want a bracket so I can pick my own cooler (I hear that just like the SST coolers, OEM aren't very good).

What about the AMS EVO X MR/Ralliart SST Transmission oil cooler kit? Seems like a good price honestly and has a lot of great reviews and it comes with everything we to just install it.
