AMS FMIC install

I ordered the Front Mount Intercooler and Upper pipe combo from AMS. Here's what I did for everyone who wishes to do the same.

First Remove the Front Bumper (I'm going to make a how-to when i put it back on and can take pics)

Second Remove the Silver Rings connecting the pipes to the intercooler. There's 4 of them 2 on each side, the one not pictured is behind the frame (red arrows). There is a rubber piece holding the intercooler in place on both sides you need to slide them off (green arrows).

The next thing I did was undo the top silver band (red arrow) and the 2 bolts holding the upper pipe down (green arrows). (I believe they're 12 mm but may be 10 mm)

There are 2 bolts underneath the intercooler once again i believe they're 12 mm (green arrow)

The next few steps are a serious pain. It took me and a friend a lot of time and muscles to get past this part. Remove the 2 tubes going directly into the intercooler (green lines is where they're connected) this part isn't too bad. Also remove the tube that goes from the intercooler to the lower pipe (orange arrow) you need to keep the lower pipe since you'll be using it on the install.

Now you should have the intercooler completely removed from the car.

The hardest part of this is separating these two pieces (green line). The top part is like a dense mesh type material that can't support itself so twisting risks damaging it. What me and my friend did was i held the mesh end and he pulled on the upper pipe. rotating and twisting it took us at least 20 mins to get it off. If you find a better way post it for others.

Any questions post them and i'll try to answer them ASAP. I'll continue this when AMS gets the silicon in to make my upper pipe and they ship me everything and I put it on. Hope this helps everyone!

Got everything from AMS. Doing this install alone would be very difficult. There's a bracket behind the radiator. Just have to get a 12 mm wrench and go. Serious pain. Putting the new one on isn't much easier, it just takes a lot of time.

This comes off.

Size Diference!

Upper piping. Wish it was black though.

Intercooler on without bumper.

With bumper.
