HOW TO: K&N SRI for no more than $70.00

Well its no secret that you could do this on your own.. I just recently decided to do this after removing my k and n drop in filter, i decided to go k and n SRI

step 1.

go to advanced autoparts or autozone and pick up the 3" k&N cone filter for around $40.00.

Step 2.

Go on to the link below and place an order for part number 14 Pictured there.. **in ralliart the maf sensor housing is located on the box so you will have to pull everything out and just leave the tube that was connected to the airbox.

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0

step 3. When your EVO X maf sensor housing arrives insert the housing into the tube, it might require a little elbow grease, but it will go in it..

step 4. Install the maf sensor and k&N cone filter..

Finished product:

ORDER PART NUMBER 14

Nice write-up!

This would require a tune afterward right?

You may not need a tune. I would imagine the EvoX maf housing is the same dimensions, therefore, the computer will put the right amount of air/fuel in... unlike the UR one. I could be wrong though, would need to check the A/F on a dyno or something to verify.

I was going to order one through my dealership a few weeks ago, but decided not to. I guess I will let you get it.

about a 1.00 cheaper ships from texas. they are a real good dealership get stuff to me real fast.

this SHOULD NOT require a tune. Just because it LOOKS like UR's intake doesnt mean it IS the same.

TTP engineering stated

"We ADAMANTLY discourage the use any intake system with an enlarged MAF adapter section specifically designed to bypass unmetered air from the intake past the maf sensor."

IF The evo X maf adapter part IS the same diameter as the stock maf adapter on the Ralliarts intake box (im pretty sure it is) then you DONT need a tune. All the air that is entering the car is being metered properly and the cars can adjust the fuel trims accordingly, I THINK i read somewhere that the UR intake maf housing was .2"

A SRI like thsi is the equivalent of having a K&N drop in filter and leaving the stock snorkel off so that the airbox has an opening...i dont think you would need a tune for taking off the stock snorkel.

UNLESS YOU HAVE LOGGED YOUR A/F with this item on UNTUNED and you know FORSURE that the A/F was wayy to high dont say it DOES need a tune. Theres no reason to pass along information that is not entirely correct.
