Replacing Air Filter

So I'm a total car noob. Decided recently to change the air filter on my '11 raillart myself... I take out my car manual, flip to section 7 on car maintenance, and LoL'ed to myself when I saw how easy it was to change the filter.

I pop the hood and locate the snorkel tube that's latched down by two clip screws near the front. Without a second thought I grab my one size fits all screw driver and start screwing away. 10 secs later I realize it's a plastic screw and I just stripped the **** outta of it. WTF!!!

So how do you actually get these clips to pop up? I tried screwing both LEFT and RIGHT and the piece of **** just spins in circles. I'm at a total lost. Any help will be appreciated.

Haha! Too funny dude.
You see around the screws there is what looks like a washer? You gotta pull the screw up will keeping the washer down. Try using a pliers, I guess.

If you think getting the screws out is tough, wait until you have to pry apart the airbox to get tje filter out.

Also, there is a write up in this section that tells you everything you need yo know.

OMFG, you're right. I just got the ****ty screws out, had to use a a flat head to pry on it. I thought the air filter compartment would just magically open up as depicted in the manual but nooo there's not enough space... WTF

Thanks for the pointers guys, I'll check out the tutorial.
