I have another picture from my phone again. Sorry for the lousy resolution.
Here is a picture ( I hope) that looks more like 18"

I think the first picture was not realistic. The picture did not look anything like the real thing.

I think the reason why 18" look so small is that the new lancer's so boxy. My coworker has a new 09 lexus is250 and it look so much tighter and sleeker, even with 17" wheels.

The frontal cross section is literally like a box and the rear is huge on the lancer. Baby got back!

That's better! Damn, you had me worried about getting 18's. I wanted to get a set of wheels for summer and keep the stock wheels for winter tires.

For some reason multi spoke type wheels always look smaller on cars that are not dropped, like an illusion =)

They put stock all-seasons on here (Canada), so when I got my car last Fall, I got the snow tires on a new set of rims (love the way Tire Rack will ship -- even to Canada -- with everything assembled and balanced, including TPMS). Now I've got snow tires on nicer wheels, and the borderline adequate all-season tires on the stock rims. I was kind of thinking of playing both sets out over two years and then doing what you're suggesting (snow tires on stock wheels), but in Fall 2010, when I'll want to trash both sets of worn tires and swap in new ones. Then, when the stock wheels start to pit after a few more years, I can trash them too and get a new set of summer wheels.
