You need to have the filter pretty much submerged to hydrolock a motor. But it's defintly possible. Probably not so likely with our cars since the filter sits up in the engine bay.

Puddles weren't very deep and I've installed a plastic piece on the inside of the front part of the inner fender to somewhat block the vents that are there. This way when it rains or screwing off like in the picture water won't enter through the vents from the tire.
